Got my first bike when i was 12

    KTM 85sx 2 Stroke

Loved it, Loved powerband, and love thrashing it up and down the nature strip ( loved living in a country town )
Lasted me a few years much to my mothers distress.

    Upgraded to a KTM125 2 Stroke when i was 15

Scared the absolute **** out of me the first time, after being use to the 85. The jump up the 125 had me on my ass and the bike on top riding in our backyard. Mother was horrified and when i wanted to upgrade to a 250 she basically said No thats it for dirt bikes. after coming off a few times with mates thrashing it around albatross ( Was our local track )

Now im not even allowed to get a road bike living in the city as long as im living at home.

    Pictures of the 85

4 strokes (especially Hondas in my experience) are a lot harder to start then 2 strokes. You have to do a full kick right from the top and have to put your whole weight into it. Everyone has always complained about starting my old CRF450 and everyone had the same problem with my new CRF250 today when we went riding. 2 strokes you can give a half assed little downwards motion and they start up. lol. Unfortunately the only 4 strokes you'll find with electric starts are either the de-tuned road versions of motorcross bikes (like the CRF250X/450X instead of the CRF250R/450R) or enduros (Like the yammie WR's).
Im sooo buggered. Spent 4 hours at Clarence near Lithgow riding yesterday, then up at 7am this morning for a full days riding at Louee. I have quickly discovered how drastically unfit I have become. lol

Well I broached the subject about getting a motorcycle license with the missus - she loves the idea! Talk about unexpected.

She wants to get one as well to go riding together.

Damn, if only she showed as much interest in cars!

So, after doing a lot more reading and research I ended up buying 2011 WR450F.
I havnt picked it up from the dealer yet but I'll put up some pictures when I do.

Yesterday I also got this 3 bike trailer off eBay. Went and picked it up yesterday for $310. It's in great condition, just needsnnew wheel bearings and rego

Weird looking trailer, has no ramps for the front wheels to go against or anything.. You can always bolt them on tho.

Don't know much about the new wr450's, like I said in the other post, the older ones were nuggets but they may have came up to speed.

Either way you'll have a blast.

The front tire pushes on to that bar. As far as I can tell.

From what read significant frame changes have led to a much better handling bike.
From what i rememeber it's just the same year models YZ450F frame.

It's still the same carby motor that Yamaha has used tonight the name of good motor reliability.

The 2012 was the new fuel injected model.

Though they don't have as much lower end as the other enduro bikes out there. Butility the handling and reliability are above the rest

having a great little chuckle reading about people complaing that four strokes are hard to kick start .... ever tried kicking a CR500 over ? motorbike boots are a must cause anything else results in a broken ankle !

read eariler about the CRF450x been good for motard .... my 2c .... my god yes they are ! personally owning one they are awsome fun too ride, i changed my gearing to 13/38 and lets just say i havnt hit the limiter in 5th ... but i sure as hell didnt have the balls to hold it open till i hit it, was extremly quick and the accelaration is still great ! 1st/2nd gear arournd town, no stress on the motor what so ever then getting out on the open road just hold it open ... great feeling !

as for 2 strokes been easier to work on then 4 strokes, of course they are but the only reason why people like working on 2 strokes compaired to 4 strokes is because they are scared to learn how to time a 4 stroke

i done a 4 hour enduro on my 450x not long ago and by jesus what fun i had ! 25km loop for four hours staight! i sure learnt my fitness needed some attention, was very buggered by the end but pulling off a 5th in the northern inland titles on my first go and setting the 2nd fastest time in my class, im cheering and cant wait for next year !

the 450x is bullet proof, i surely have AT LEAST 150hours on the motor and have not had to adjust the valves ( they havnt moved ) it only blows the slightest amount of smoke when first started up and i havnt changed the oil in a while, has alot of compression and all round the bike hasnt caused me problems, id gladly advice anyone to buy one

This is my new toy. A 1996 XR600R. She needs a little bit more work (new plastics) and a couple bits and pieces but still goes like a rocket. Keeps up with my mates on their 450's and best thing is it needs alot less maintenance. Only downside is she's a bit on the heavy side @ 130kg so throwin her around is a little more effort than them throwing their 450's around. Got her for a absolute bargain too!!!
