THE INDICATOR STALK IS ON THE LEFT!!!! lolol, means my cruise control handle will fit and the writing will be the correct way up, so you can read it!! yaaaaay
might have inadvertantly stumbled on a cheaper answer to my transmission problem.... if i rotate the column so the shift lever is on the right.... does the same thing.... needs more looking into, but im currently up to my eyeballs in brake fittings :s
wondering if i can get someone to point me in the right direction for fittings. used to have a HQ square bulkhead plug which actually works really well, im considering just reusing it but moving it to a more hidden spot, problem is now i have the haltech, there are about 24 extra wires running from the cabin to the engine that id like a quick release for. i get the feeling the HQ bulkhead may be a little too unreliable for EFI signal wires, anyone know of decent bulkheads (preferably really really cheap) i can use? also a quick release for the dash loom would be good, so whenever a newbie strips my dash (hama) they dont undo every single little wire, globe and vacuum hose, they just unclip the loom and lift the dash facia off. im pretty much sold on moving the battery to the boot, so will need bulkheads for + and - too. websites and part numbers appreciated. or even make/model of cars with suitable parts i can go suss out at a self-serve wrecker
Bulkhead? Plug and socket? For the battery I would be using an Anderson plug hands down. But are we talking the same thing?
It can be screwed to a wall but I do recall seeing bulkhead receptacles for them also. If you want a quick disconnect for your battery.... this is the only way to do it.
How many connections are there? Could always just wire them to different plugs of different sizes and have the male/female plugs switched around if multiple sized plugs. ie: you'd have to be very special to plug a 6 pin male plug into a 6 pin male plug.
enroh: ive seen those plugs before, but i remember them being about 200 dollars. what are they called? wombles/wraith: they look like what im after! only for the dash though. by bulkhead i mean a plug that is sealed against the weather and passes through the firewall. so on the engine bay side you unplug it and can lift the engine out without having to chop any wires. from memory the haltech is 32 wires and the body needs 30 ish wires. haha, anyway another hour on the firewall last night. got the last of the holes on this side welded up. next is a date with the grinder. even though im using tig, the top line i was dealing with rusty seam metal, so explosions of molten steel were common. there have been a few small warps but most of them were taken care of cold with the dolly, havnt needed to do any heat shrinks yet, everything is still pretty tight. gonna need a bunch of bog, but i was expecting that anyway. at least my metal work skills have improved since the boot so will only need a small skim.
Yes new they are. Can't for the life of me remember what they are called but they were originaly designed by the us militiary. You can find them in a lot of lat model Japanese trucks now, and in latemodel European tractors, like Lamborghini and Landini, and Massey Ferguson's. Edit: so you could pick some up at a truck or tractor wreckers. 500rwhp corn juiced & boosted ls1
Or you could use the drivers side door plug outta of a gu patrol wagon(st model with power windows etc) they are a bulkhead plug with a fair few pins and are dustproof, water proof... 500rwhp corn juiced & boosted ls1

Also be careful if you use Anderson plugs for your battery, firstly make sure you use the larger version to handle the current draw, and secondly keep them away from excess heat as they become brittle fairly quickly. 500rwhp corn juiced & boosted ls1
