LMAO!! can you explain that to my girlfriend pls? anyway, THIS feels like progress: im not gonna lie, there are f'k ups all over it. but itll do and i am pretty happy
Can't see it in the pics, so dont bother me News paper sucks as masking paper, bleeds straight through and takes 40yrs to mask the car up!
so this is what happens when you dont pay attention at the last minute. mixed WAAAAY too much tinner into the putty. see the little squiggly lines? i went out just before and it looks like the 'paint' has eaten into the bog which i just spent all day sanding starting from scratch on saturday i guess.
you spray sprayputty with no thinners nooge .man if you did that black stuff that go out and get some more green and do the lot it will come out better than you think after all this practice then just send it in later for them to block it back and flash on a nice coat and more clear if you arnt happy
you spray sprayputty with no thinners man its how it works.it also needs primer under it as well as on top.if you did that black that good go out and get some more green and do the lot green, it will come out better than you think after all this practice. then just send it in later for the pros to block it back and flash on a nice coat and more clear if you arnt happy with how it turns out .shes looking pretty damn straight. hows that
Better , just taking the piss, is all. I can't wait till your finished Ari666, this will look tough driving down the street.
Please tell me you're going to take that thing for a cruise 'round to Box Hill in satin black undercoat before you paint her up I forget how big that thing is until I see a picture of it backed out of the shed That rear quarter looked MINT, I'd be happy if I was you ^_^
lol, as hard as that was to comprehend, i actually understood it. the putty i got is 4:1 +10 +5 reducer, but i was so tired by the time it was done that i just wasnt paying attention and mixed in about the same thinners as you would the acrylic black at first it was just running everywhere, but i thought it'd be ok cos' it was fast thinner so i got the heatlamp onto it to try and evaporate it out. but when i came back a couple of hours later it had lifted the bog right up the metal in a couple of spots hopefully it will just be a case of sanding out the dead bog spots and the rest will still be ok to fill and re-sand, i spent an entire day sanding it back and a 1.5 tins of bog (4kgs each) on a boot im not even going to keep!, im gonna be f'ked if i have to go through all that again. i wanted to practice on it so i had a better idea by the time i got to the bonnet, and it came out realllllly nice, was dead happy with it. just f'ked it up at the last minute (story of my life) but yeah, slowly as i am playing with my new gun i am thinking that it might actually turn out OK if i did the green. its not the clear that worries me though, i would hate to have 'tiger stripes' in the base. i got a big stripe on the drivers side wheel arch (engine bay) but i was using a crap gun at the time and had crap light, and the way the devilbliss sprays out, i have a lot more confidence now. just need a few more lights in the shed. but yeah aside from all that i cant afford the paint right now. actually cant afford it till next year prolly. and lol mort, drive thorugh box hill? so a certain cultural minority can live up to their stereotype and smash into me, thus allowing insurance to paint it green?
the plan now (i know, im always changing plans) is to paint the boot off the car, fit it up, fill some pin holes and fix up a few things that i missed, remove the front and get started on that, then once the front is all finished and painted (off the car) reassemble and give it one more coat of satin so its all nice and even. i am also SERIOUSlY considering airbrushing something onto it. satin is nice an' all but i think it needs very fine light green/silver flames
If you're talkin bout what i think you're talkin bout....then minority is the wrong word to use me thinks
zactly, just get some fine line (3mm) pinstriping tape, green/silver or red/silver, looks killer on matte black
yeah vinyl tape was option 2. option 1 was repo chrome strips (which is never gonna happen when its black) but my mind drifted off into flames. will look into it more 'design wise' and prolly change my mind again in a week. anyway, i would take a pic of the boot but its shiiiiite. not flat at all, bog has come through a different texture and there are a couple of dents i didnt notice in the area i didnt put any filler... all of that wouldnt have stopped my painting it black tonight cos' im just gonna replace the boot later anyway... what stopped me was the fact i lay down the first coat of primer and had a nice couple of drops of water in it "thats weird" i said cos' i had already cleared the water trap, went and cleared it again ... no water... weird. so waste a whole bunch of thinners and wipe off the first coat and start from scratch. hit it with a new coat.. "oh good. more drops of water" look up.. roof is leaking... *sigh* drag the panel stand further into the shed where its completely dry, wipe off the 2nd coat.. start from scratch, guess what happened? thats right. roof starts leaking over the boot. i finished spraying it out and left it. gonna give it a quick rub tomorrow if its cleared up. the worry-ing-est bit is the leaks are right on the electrical cabling for the lights :s bloody rental properties.
i grew up sliding from one side of the rear seat to the other side of the rear seat in an impala when i was a kid i love them too
