Ok cheers, yer i used the touchup paint heron white to wouldnt mind it a little closer to the cars colour but yer looks good from about 5 metres away its only when you get close up that you can really tell the difference ile post some pics up when i get my boot fixed so i can safely leave my car in the street cbf'd geting it out of the garage atm
hey ridah just wondering if you used like a plastix primer before you sprayed your boot garnish or just sprayed straight on to it. Im thinking of doing my car also mine is silver but ive got the same clear atezza tail lights. It should look good when painted but i wont a close match so it doesnt look dodgy.
hey JAC8209, nah i didnt use plastic primer on the boot garnish i just gave it a good clean with wax n grease remover and then sprayed the touch up spray straight on to the clean surface.
how long ago did you paint the garnish brother? found a better match to my paint today and resprayed the side strips am alot happier with the result
thanks for that i dont know i pastic primer will make a difference did you put a couple coats of clear on too??
i would suggest you to apply some clear coat aswell, ALTHOUGH make sure its a real good quality clear coat because most clear coats have a bad reaction with touch up paints and it turns the finish into a yellow horrible look.
thanks for that mate i will defiantly do it now but first i just bought some king super lows they will be first on the list.
Alrighty, i think its time for an update. Just recently i have converted my simple boot-lid in to a flip-trunk
clean vs mate. how hard was it to rip all the plastic strips on the doors/front bumper/rear bumper? is it just sikoflex holding them on? i was thinking bout either ripping mine off completely, or painting them sherbrook and putting em back on.
the black plastic strips on the bumpers were just a sticker, so they came off easily. Although the ones on the doors were'nt so easy, driver's side strips and sikaflex came off nicely but the passenger side was a real biatch to get off. So i ripped off the black strip and used a caramel wheel to remove the remaining sikaflex
hwey mate the boot looks killa how did you do it? was it easy? and does it still close properly? and also does it leak water at all man cheers might think bout doing it cuase it looks sweet on you car man
Wooow, looks good man but not a fan of the spoiler on any commies just my opinion though, do you get any more boot rattle from subs with the boot like that?
There's a write-up in the How-to section in this forum about the Flip-Trunk http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-tos/49304-how-flip-trunk-lid.html ...i attempted the flip-trunk by myself, difficult..? not really but it's well worth it! =D and yupp it sure does close properly and no water leaks at all, as for boot rattles there's barely any because it gets locked down to its normal postion when-ever i take it for a drive, but if how ever there are any rattles i would suggest you to apply some stick-on-foam between the boot hinges and boot. ....im the type of guy who has the spoiler off for a week or 2 and back on the week after lol i just can't decide which looks best
Hahaha i reckon it looks alot better w/o the spoiler but without it ude have 2 holes on each side of the boot (correct me if im wrong) so year its a tuffy lol
6 holes all up to be precise ..but naa its no biggie, i made a solution for the holes. You know those lil plastic ribbed-plugs that hold the upholestry/carpet in the boot on to the walls?...yeah i bought a pack of 6 from auto-barn and sprayed them with heron-white touch up paint hahaha..and yeah i push them into the screw holes that are on the boot. hmmm..i feel like going wing-less this week, i'll show ya a close up of what i mean about the plugs.
These are the plugs that i used to fill in the holes where my SS spoiler use to mount thru. Probably not easy on the eyes but it's the next best thing to welding up the holes.
I think it's about that time again for an update. I designed, constructed and fabricated the custom boot layout all by my own with the inspiration from the other JC members with custom layouts. The build period took about 1 week and the cost was around about $150. I'll let the the photos do all the talking
