Picked this baby up Jan 23, 09 with 177,XXX Ks on it, for $3,700. Not too sure about a lot of the specs, but it's a comfy ride. 1997 VS Executive Series II 3.8L V6 Ecotec Botanica Blue Mica, but I prefer to call it green. Debadged K&N air filter 15" CSA mags Sports Exhaust Chrome altezza tail lights Rear number plate leds.. Which are in fact illegal, so they're going to go into my dash or something. Sports steering wheel All new interior to be painted soon And what I'd like to do to it. VS Senator body kit Monaro style bonnet Plush carpet 5% tint rear window 25% tint side windows Clear side indicators 17" rims Woodgrain door inserts And of course some pics from what it was to how is it now. Will update as I go. Phone quality isn't the best.. Put on some undercar neons and rear plate leds.. Both temporary. Fit some comfy seat covers.. bit of wear in the passenger side from the puppy. Simply because I hated the lights that were originally on the car. I got these. Got my new steering wheel in the post today.. On it goes.
Why? just get some calais/berlina tail lights. They look so much better and non-rice. It comes down to your choice, but they are ****ing ugly I reckon. Save the money and put it towards something like rims or window tint. Anyway, on a positive, good pick up for $3700. Hope you enjoy driving and modding as much as I enjoy mine lol..
Personal preference. I reckon they make it look more modern. I'm not a fan of the standard looking lights. I guess I'll see how it looks with them on, and if I don't like them after a period of time, I will just sell them and try something else.
Also, can someone tell me if it's correct that you can only go two sizes up legally in rims? I'm on my red P's in QLD if that makes a difference.
i was under the impression that it just has to stay within 25mm total rolling diameter. so in theory you could have a set of 19" or 20" wheels, but with a lower profile tyre, keeping the wheel and tyre combine within 25mm diameter of the original wheel/tyres combined
Well, got the altezzas yesterday, fitted them this morning after work. I actually like them despite looking ricey to a lot of people. Excuse the dust I work on a farm.. 40 min drive each way over the dustiest road.
damn, those altezza'a look terrible. i remember when i first got my VS, i went thru that after-market tail light phase..got over in like a month, though i did buy the clear type tail lights and tinted which looked good but got sick of it and went with the berlina/calais clear type indicator tail lights. other than that, nice clean pick up with the VS!
I may experiment with some others at some point, but for now I'm happy. Just note I've gone to a commodore from a ford laser, so I'm just proud to have a car that doesn't look like something your average supre shopper would drive. Update: On my way to work last night, I hit a fair sized roo luckily for the heat and the plastic, the dent in the front bumper just popped right out, although obviously it did crack a bit of paint, but I'm not going to lose sleep over that.. it can't really be helped. There's just this and the crack of paint that came off. Bumper isn't in the best painted condition.. bought it with stress cracks in it, so I have to repaint it anyway.
Do you have a photo of any berlina/calais tail lights? Not 100% sure what they look like. The lights that came on my car were unroadworthy because they had rock holes in them and I didn't find them at all attractive since they were slightly faded and scratched all over etc.
I've got a set on mine. Have a look through my thread. Calais lights do look heaps better. I used to have the altezzas to but took them off.
Update: Currently almost 1/4 of the way through getting those ugly strips off the doors. Front and rear bumper stickers came off without a trace and as for the door strips, sprayed some WD-40 along the top of the strips, gave that a minute and then just peeled it back holding the blow dryer between the strip and the remaining crap on the door. Came off without peeling any paint.. yet to get the sikaflex off. Strip on the driver's side rear door has come off once before and been glued back on by the last owner.. The top strip, whatever that is called, came off easily enough with a rubber.. As for the sikaflex though, I don't really have access to a caramel wheel where I live, or anywhere close, so if anyone knows what may work besides that I'd love to know.
Well I got a caramel wheel, bit of a noob with it, but I finally got some paint from auto1 ordered in. Going to repaint the doors, front bumper and all interior plastics and vinyls. Just recently got a k&n air filter, carbon fiber interior kit which will be fitted in the next few days, and brand new glovebox, plastic under the steering wheel (which current one is cracked), and center console. Also, does anyone at all have a vs senator kit they want to sell? Can't find any on ebay and it's the only kit that appeals to me.
Hmm it's been a while. Done a bit to the car. Today I got some genie interference extractors and an ss induction put on. I've noticed a lot of gain since the standard manifold on the left had a huge crack going around 50% of the pipe. Couldn't be happier right now, although the y piece has been turned upside down since the extractor pipes are a bit lower, so unfortunately the underneath of the car has become incredibly low. Will have to raise it slightly soon.
