    hey Joey,
i am in no way classified as rural i am just outside fairfield the heart of the western suburbs in Sydney. what i did was got my old man to help me out by saying he was the main driver and i was just an occasional driver. it brought the final price down by thousands and i am still the owner of the car. i just have my dad on their for insurances purposes.

Even though yours is a v8 2500 still sounds like a bit too much.

I actually didnt like the airhammer, I got one and i received no noticeable power increase, intake sound or anything that would make me or someone else think it wasn't standard. If i was u or if i was going to keep the sv6 then i would have got a OTR CAI (a few places are starting to make em now) As for the exhaust DO NOT change it... it will be the worst decision u could make. i did on mine and it drones like there is no tomorrow! I used aftermarket mufflers not sure how the V8/HSV ones would be but i have heard mixed things about em. either a new full system or a new design cat-back may help the drone as the factory exhaust sounds s**t. Just changing the mufflers to louder ones just amplifies what sound your standard exhaust makes.

Hi mate sorry to hear that. But i cant complain with the airhammer. just remember with an intake you are looking at only 5-8kw max increase if that. but what i did notice is low down pick up is heaps quicker havent timed it exactly but i am pretty sure to gets to 100km/h slightly quicker than stock form. as for the hsv rear mufflers i love them they are completely stock sounding at idle and have a nice growl but nothing too much.
In regards to the sound of the airhammer sure it doesnt make the loudest growl but is definately noticeable try windows down and in built up areas it is most noticeable then but you have to remember that the ECU will take a few days to weeks to learn the new intake temps and levels and stuff so sometimes it might take time to notice it. Get some else to jump in and u go under the bonnet and have a listen and its definately noticeable.

    Cheers

Thats not too bad 1200 a year. its different for anyone but if you are on your p's like a few of us its best to put it for insurance purposes with someone else has a good history and over 30.

well thats probably why your paying a low price and your probably living in a rural area because you will never get that price even for a 40 year old driving my car.

ok here is an update, its been a while though.

Airhammer is fantastics and enjoying the sound gains under throttle. HSV tips look excellent havent done much else though.

i am currently looking at some rear muffler options just to give me a little sound. I recently purchased straight pipe instead of the rear mufflers and really enjoyed it. Not much if any drone and a great sound to about 4000rpm. Only problem i am currently having is my mum and misses. they are against this sought of thing saying its stupid blah, blah, blah. I tune out when they start rambling on. Anyways since i enjoy the sound quite a bit i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to have the varex mufflers installed. I have looked around and have had no luck with dealers selling mufflers only they insist on me buying the enitire cat back system.

So if anyone knows of a place in sydney that is selling the VE varex mufflers without system and not charging an arm and a leg (under 900).

I will post this bit in the ve section to see if anyone else has some ideas.

    Cheers
    Dean

why not just get some argish hotdogs fitted to the straight through pipe? that will quieten it a bit and only cost 100-200 bucks.
