I have 2 cars VZ sv8 6 litre and VU ute 5.7 litre
Guys
Last night I was driving my VU ute home and all of a sudden my electric window switches start smoking, 3 seconds later my center console had flames leaping out of it. I hit the brakes and pulled over, I think I had the console apart within 2 seconds to put out the flames, The thing is I got home and checked the fuse box and it had the correct fuse in it 20 amp's why didnt the fuse blow ? I said to my wife what would of you done if this happened to you she said let it burn rofl. Has anyone had this happened to them and how did you get around it because I must say traveling down the freeway at 100km's its not a great situation to be in.

thats why its good to carry a fire extinguisher in a car, if the fire got out of hand i would leave the car and run away as a car can be replaced but a life cant so yea, as for the power window switch must have had a short somewhere did anyone try to fix anything on it lately????

Haven't touched the switches at all but what I did find is it started on the circuit board under the switches and yes I'm buying a fire extinguisher tonight.

The switchers are buggered, the car absolutely reeks of burn circuit board but nothing happened with any other part of the electrics. I was driving with the radio on and headlight going and nothing flickered at all and that's the thing why didn't a fuse blow.
