    VS SS V8
    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forums, and forums in general.

    I have a VS SS V8 Series 2.
I have owned it for 12 months, its a bloody awesome car.

BUT, my diff is making TERRIBLE noises,
mainly a whining noise at all speeds.
It sounds really bad, but the diff itself seems to operate OK.
This is maybe the crown and pinion???

I want to try replacing the crown wheel and pinion, but I am not
sure what other models ran the same diff centres as the VR-VS commos
(obviously with the IRS rear end).

Does anyone know a good, reasonably priced diff shop near Gladesville??

    Cheers,
    Nick

if the whine increases with speed but it's a constant whine it's most likely the pinion bearings that are stuffed. if you can play a tune by applying and removing power then it's the crownwheel/pinion thats possibly worn.

hopefully it's just bearings that need changing. the gear sets in the BW78 seem to handle a lota off abuse reasonably well
