Hi guys.. well since i bought my vx berlina, i noticed that it basically has hardly any power for what it is as i am used to driving other vx's... my friends vs commodore beats it anyday.
anyways i took it to an exhaust place and got him to look at the exhaust as i was told that maybe this was why... he said that it has no mufflers, a strait through pipe from the cat with a resinator and said that he belives that if they are dumb enough to put that setup on, then perhaps they have screwed with the cats as well.

anyways if i was to get a proper exhaust system installed, does it sound like i might get my power back that has been lost?

any help appreciated as i am not good with these things

    thanks guys

i've driven commodore vt's before, dead stock, they don't drive anything like mine, all i have is a redback sports exhaust.

you could be loosing power through the fact you have no muffler.. look into it and get some more advice.

if they stuffed around with the cat you can lose heaps of power on a vx.

having a full exhaust on a stock standard engine especially a 6 is useless.
I got genie extractors, high flow cat, 2.5" bent mandrell and i got an lousey extra 4rwkw

its not a waste of money anymore because my stroker fitted :)

cheers for the replys.. to be honest im not too worried about improving performance.. i would just like it to be back at the stock performance that it should be. the guy said for 20 bucks he will have a look at the cat for me to see how it is.. so i might get that done and hope for the best. if thats fine though.. i still will probably get something done to it because the sound it makes from outside of the car is awsome, but it has a very loud droanage sound inside of the car which basically i cannot stand.

does anyone have any suggesting on what exhaust system or setup would be best?

    cheers

2.5" cat back system goes well on vt's makes a nice sound without being droney.

ive been reading a bit on these forums and it sounds like a redback exhaust would probably be the best for me...any opinions on this?

also will this give me any performance boost or just make it sound different?

    thanks guys

in my opinion you couldn't go to far wrong with a lukey....mmm gives a real nice note and does get you moving a bit quicker. also i think the brand name quality is there with lukey to back it up....however i haven't had a redback zorst, so i dont no how they go.

    cheers

My guess is they would'nt be that dissimilar, only marked up for brand purposes. If you want to pay extra for the same setup, your choice.
