Usually I'd say lifes a bitch, but this does seem a bit harsh. The numberplate lights probably were a bit of bait you set yourself, but the rest is complete bullshit.
I'm honestly supprised that I havent been pulled over yet. My exhaust is really loud, I've got shiny 18's, my parkers are blue, and I've got red P's for crist's sake! I even tempt the cops whenever I see a cop car. I like to give it a rev at the lights and drop down a couple of gears whenever I'm beside one. And give it a big exhaust crackle when I'm slowing down. They couldnt give a rat's arse. I bet if I did a U turn with a mini spool diff they still would'nt care. New hoon rules my arse! But I did get a pretty evil look from a hot chick copper when I gave it a bit of a poke at a light the other day. You'd think the blue parkers would give me away, but no.
Do you want to know what I smell? I smell some bullshit here...I smell a bunch of excuses and justifications for this defect which probably had other reasons for it being given. I agree some defects are rather questionable when they are given out, but your attitude and manner of explaining the circumstances and the manner in which the inspection of your car took place, seems to point and a whinging whining justification for your nice new yellow sticker. You did get done for a bunch of stupid reasons which some could say hardly constitute an unroadworthy car. But I'm sick of hearing people whinging that 'oh they got me for this because I'm a P Plater' and 'cops pick on P Platers' - errrr No they don't, they keep a close eye on P Platers..... If I'm wrong I apologise in advance, but you sound like every other whining twat who comes on here complaining about how mistreated they are by cops. I have been pulled over once, and got a fine for disobeying the Peer Passenger law. I have since never been pulled over for a random check in my car. Every time I have been pulled over in mates cars, they drive in a way which attracts that much attention to themselves I'm not surprised they get fines and pulled over....
unfortunately mate, if coppers gave warnings to everyone, no-one would fix the defects. By issuing a defect, they are ensuring the vehicle gets fixed they have to issue you with a defect, what is rough is when they also issue a ticket for driving a defective vehicle, if the defects are only minor
Why? Your car had illegal modifications. What makes you believe you are above the law and should be allowed to drive an unroadworthy car?
i agree they dont think most pick on P-Platers, just keep a closer Eye on them, which is why you have to counter this and not give them any excuses i once got pulled over on the way to the local shooting range...boot full of firearms the looks on the faces were classic, one even asked me if he could take photos, didnt worry me, cuz they can look up the info on them anyway
well i get pulled over all the time 7 time in 3 months and one cop did say to me they do keep and eye out for p platers and i never been defected and once i had a smashed headlight but the cop was real nice about it he just wanted to make sure i knew about it
Just quickly, the tissue box thing is bollocks It has been tested, it doesn't have enough mass to do much damage at all.
i agree..it's gunna take more then a box of tissues to kill me hahaha if you get killed by a box of tissues i think it's time you HARDEN THE #### UP! hahaha
im pretty sure if i cut a nice vein in your neck with the corner of the tissue box you would die haha... just saying is all....
Thing is though, there is NOTHING on my car that would make it look "unroadworthy". I keep it in very good condition, and don't drive like an idiot. It was peak hour traffic, 5.15 on a friday afternoon along the Princes Highway in Noble Park, i turned left into Corrigan Road, stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded to drive home. The cops cut across 2 very built up lanes on the Highway to follow me and pull me over. Once again, my car is in Excellent condition, and i have never had any run ins with the law before. No speeding fines, no defects, no disobeying of any laws what so ever. My exhaust has a very nice tone to it, but its not overly loud that it attracts attention, and my car looks very nice but not in a "hotted up" kind of way. There is nothing about my car, nor the way i was driving that warrants them pulling me over in such a hurry other than the 2 little green signs with a 'P' on them. If my car was a piece of **** that id never looked after and was clearly falling apart and a danger to myself and other drivers on the road then id be happy to cop a defect and be forced to fix it. But i keep my car in the best condition that i know how to, and if you saw and drove it you would agree, but they treated me like my car was so dangerous that i could cause a collision any second if i was to be on the road any longer. I'm not trying to have a whinge, and im not trying to be above the law, i have respect for police and the laws set in place which is why if i had of been given a warning, or maybe a time period of which i need to have those few, MINOR things fixed or seen to, then i would of had it done within a week and happily handed in a new RWC. Bottom line is that i PERSONALLY believe that if i did not have those plates up, i can guarantee you that the police wouldn't have gone so far out of their way to pull me over, though if they did, i wouldn't have been given a defect. Happy for cops to keep an extra eye out for the few P platers that do think they are above the law, but im sick of being treated like a criminal because my rear reflectors are a little bit faded seeing as i drive a 17 year old car.
1 persons oppinion of driving like a granny, is driving like a hoon to someone else..... You might not think your exhaust is loud, but realistically its probably illegal (If i remember right, the v6's just passed the db test from factory so anything louder would be illegal) Im not saying your lying, but I am saying you didn't get defected because you are on your p's...... Sure they pay more attention to you but in most cases wont pull someone over unless they have a reason
you say your relfectors need replacing. that would make your car look unroadworthy. I used to drive a toyota gt4 with exhaust, wheels etc on my p's and never had a problem
I can see what your saying and in many cases I agree with you. P Plater's are kept a close eye on, because according to 'statistics' they make up a fair proportion of our road toll. And to honestly tell you the truth, alot of P Platers and particularly alot of P Platers in Commodores are absolute ########s. Not to mention the fact that you were in Noble Park which is in the vicinity of one of melbourne's top hoon spots. Don't get me wrong, I think that sometimes P Platers can be made an example of and certainly get the **** end of the stick now and then when it comes to 'interpreting the law'. But unfortunately, until the majority of youths realise that their attitudes and their general ########edness and lack of respect and any sense of honor or moral compass, we are all going to have to live with the stereotype of being P Platers and receive extra attention. So in answer to your statement, yes the P Plates probably were the main attraction for the cops....(And for people who can't figure out the suttle difference in what I'm saying this will be a bit of a contradiction) But I do not believe that they pick on them like bullies. Those stories and rumours originate from whinging about getting done for something.
The car has passed 2 roadworthies though, one was just a month ago which i showed the cops though obviously its not something to justify something that needs replacing. I'm not trying to whinge or say that im being treated unfairly as previously stated i have respect for the law. I just personally feel that receiving a defect for those few minor things was a bit harsh and wanted a few different opinions as to whether a defect for these things is pretty normal or if they really were trying to give a P plater a hard time, thats all.
if you choose to mod a car expect it and expect plenty more. no point complaining just fix it and stop doing mode YOU NO will get you in **** eg the blue lights, were you driving like a dick to get picked on? been reported for something. they dont do it for no reason everyone knows that. every time ive ever got in **** i was being stuiped they dont touch you if you havent done anything wrong.
Was barely going over 50 man, as said earlier, peak hour traffic, and it wasn't dark out so blue light wasn't on. As also said earlier i was always happy to cop that one as i knew that going in it would get picked up on sooner or later. Anyways im not here to argue my way out of it or start some riot against the police, just wanted other people's opinions on the matter in regards to whether they were a little hard on me or not.
seeming you drive a commodore you got off easy. they are the most targeted car around. i say evan more so in my area then skylines
