    Slowly getting there...

The panel shop has it all straightened and repaired but is now just waiting for a tailgate which is in back order with Holden.. Should allegedly be delivered early next week...
They have used a tailgate from another VE to do what they can in the meantime..

Ended up being $19k damage all up..

The only positive is they were happy to cash settle me for the mufflers, so just a couple hundred out of my pocket I've bought this and they will fit it whilst its there

2.5" cat back by HM Headers...

Will fit a VCM OTR when I get it back then the Gas mob are going to tune it when they do the 2000k service a couple weeks later....

I was semi hopeful of them writing it off but it's insured for $52k (with the gas) and the write off point is 75%....

I have full faith in the shop it's at - I've been in the auto industry 20years and worked with them a lot in my last role - the only thing is I'll always know...

Dunno how there on back order through holden, i went in to get a quote for a new one for mine and they cost $900 to buy bare[no paint or anything] ####in scammers.

I know how you feel about always knowing the cars been crashed, i sold my old vy for the same reason. But being an almost brand new car you wouldn't really know. Good luck with it all. Chuck up some pics when you get it back.

    Will do mate..

I've had a few contacts chase it up for me and confirm the back order... There was a dealer in WA and one in QLD with stock but they won't give em up....

I actually think its piss poor - 12 month old car and a tailgate that is the same as the VF... Shouldn't have been a stock issue....

probably just keeping them so they can charge a premium later on

yes you will always know but will it really matter if the job is done well?

Yeah no doubt. They reckon holden is going broke, and with prices like that its any wonder.

If the jobs done well then theres no problem, the people RACV use in my area were terrible

some what yes. It's a case of supply and demand, where else can you go to get an OEM holden part with out paying more. They'll just say if you don't like it go somewhere else.

Getting excited.... Should have it back by the end of the week!
Will have the new HM Headers 2.5 catback system fitted, will be getting a VCM OTR fitted a week or so later when the 2000k service and tune is done... Contemplating fitting some HM Headers 4 into 1 headers and hi flow cats at the same time but will wait to see how it sounds with just the catback first....

If you have the money, I'd do headers and cats at the same time. Then it's only 1 tune needed instead of 2.

That's why I'm toying with it....
It's not ideal at the moment financially but possible!

The only reason I'm doing any exhaust changes is to make it sound like a v8 - any added performance is just a bonus! - so if it sounds ok with just the cat back I'll save my dollars for now!

Then again, does common sense really matter!!!!

    It never matters!

A cat back will give it that v8 note. But doing cats and headers gives it just a slightly deeper note. Plus very nice gains along with the otr ;)

I'm getting mine all done in the next couple weeks on my ssv. Just have a catback at the moment

    At long last it's back!

Monday of this week was 12 weeks since buying it.

Friday this week will be 8 weeks since the accident....

It's fair to say I've missed it!

Sounds awesome with the cat back (HM Headers 2.5" stainless catback) .. But there is a bit of drone :( - might need to seek advice on helmholtz chambers!

    And here she is!

    Update time...

I took your advice thanks and contacted NAAF... He was spot on with his suspicion that my drone was just when the AFM was kicking in!!

So I've been driving it for the past few weeks in "manual mode" which has kept it out of AFM range! It's been great driving it that way and the down shifts sound great - particularly 3rd into 2nd! - but I've been getting about 29litres per 100 as a result (but hey, it's been fun!!)

Anyways, today it went back to Smithy's and had a VCM OTR CAI fitted, the AFM switched off and a tune...

For me, the exhaust and CAI weren't about performance - I just wanted a nice V8 sound, but I've gotta say the drive home tonight was great, throttle response was excellent and the extra oomph was definitely noticeable....
