I like that blue glow around the gear stick and i realllllly like the red accents on the front of the car- they make the front look very sharp, not sure about the bonnet stripe though. And I like the red on black numberplate as well.

Very nice

Haha thanks guys.

Just pocket lighting really - there's a light that's up under the A/C controls. In the front doors there's also tiny lights to show where the door handle is, might be able to see if you look hard enough. Certainly looks 10x better in person, or better quality photo's perhaps haha.

Anyone had a look at the Walkinshaw "W310" upgrade pack? Is it worth the money or should I add a cam on top of it as well while they've got the car?

Cheers, Brendan

Just had a conversation with the local Walkinshaw specialist.

Two main options -

"W310" upgrade kit (310kw)

• Walkinshaw Performance Ceramic Coated Headers, matched with High Flow Catalytic Converters.
• Unique Walkinshaw Performance Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System. (Featuring added growl!)
• Unique Walkinshaw Performance Cold Air Intake.
• Custom ECU recalibration developed on Walkinshaw Performance’s dynamometer.
• W310 Build Plate and Rear Deck Lid Badging.
• Walkinshaw Performance Driveline Warranty.

Quoted just over $6k drive out same day service.

Or

"W457" Supercharger Kit (457kw)

• WP230 Supercharger Package
• Large high flow injectors
• Eaton Twin Vortices 2300 Series (TVS) Gen VI rotors
• Water to air intercooler package
• Custom moulded heater hoses
• Cast aluminium coil covers
• Unique Walkinshaw Performance injection moulded cold air intake package
• Heavy duty serpentine belt drive system
• 12” long intake runners
• Custom moulded intercooler hoses
• Self-contained oil system
• Full stainless steel exhaust system including, ceramic coated headers and high flow catalytic converters.
• Full dyno tune from an authorised Walkinshaw Performance Centre
• W Series Certificate of Authenticity and Vehicle Identification
• Full drive line warranty for the balance of the manufacturer’s new vehicle warranty for eligible vehicles.

Quoted $18950 drive away.

*taken from walkinshaw website*

So tempting but looks like it'll be the W310 kit first as it's a good stepping stone up to the big kit next year.

Opinions or recommendations?

Cheers, Brendan.

Nice car, not sure I like the Black/red theme, looks a bit tacky.

$6k is ALOT of money for that W310 kit. It's basically just a Tune/CAI/Exhaust, stainless steel also sounds like **** (in my opinion) and also costs more.

I didn't cheap out or get big discounts on my gear, however this is what I paid:

  • $2,280 for full twin 2.5" Hurricane Exhaust (mild steel) - $2,500 including install.
  • $880 for full Dyno custom tune.
  • $220 for custom design OTR CAI (granted some are more expensive like the $600 VCM one).
$3,600 in total I paid for essentially the same thing with minor variations. To be honest, I wouldn't even bother spending the money on a performance pack if your end goal is the W457 package. Save your money, especially considering the W310 kit will have too small exhaust (Twin 2.5") for the W457 kit which will require an upgrade to Twin 3".

Save your money, wait to do the W457 kit.

Agree with Hama, the W310 is a rip off for what you get and lets just say I was happy to get ripped off... The sound of the walkinshaw exhaust is by far the best I've ever heard.

The growl from the W310 kit is spectacular, though I'm not out for big mods, the W457 would be awesome but not for me and my daily driver for work.

Just try to find someone who will let you hear the W310 and you'll agree, the modest 50kW improvement was a bonus.

Thanks, yeah I know it's a little steep for what it is but as it's my first brand new car walkinshaw are offering a driveline warranty with both their kits which makes me feel a little better inside haha. I've read so many posts around the net today of people having nothing but awesome reviews on the walkinshaw exhaust. When I was talking to the guy today he said it's the same setup for both kits that's why it's a good base step. Has both 2.5"+3" piping throughout to get the best sound and performance with little/no drone at all I believe he said.

You have the W310 upgrade? Or just know someone who does? If you do have it is there anything you'd suggest changing or keep it exactly as they recommend?

Thanks for all your info so far. Very helpful.

Brendan.

I test drove the W310 back in August and purchased my redline straight after which is ready for delivery Friday. I'll drive it for 1000-1500KM's and then go back for the install of the W310 pack after making sure all is driving well.
Already paid for and just a matter of getting the K's up.

VY SS
I went down to Horse Power Factory in Dandenong(vic)and they gave me a ride around the block in the Walkinshaw car they have there. Same kit except for CAI which was over the radiator but rest is the same, It is bloody AWESOME! Way better sound than my 2 1/2 Di filipo on the VY SS. From what I hear they use Di filipo in the W310 kit. It's a stepped 3 inch into 2 1/2 inch to keep the noise and drone levels down while still giving a nice deep burble/rumble. I'll be going for the W310 kit as well rather pay the money and have it covered under warranty. Highly recommend it, I couldn't notice any drone at all compared to my current VY but the guy said there is a slight drone at around 3000rpm, No big deal really for daily driver you won't be doing 3000rpm that often, Probably not at all if you have auto as well. By the way they disable the AFM if you have auto as that's what causes most of the drone when AFM kicks in and it's running on 4 cylinders.

Here is what it sounds like if you are interested.
