First thread attempt. Heres my 94 Vr V6 Turbo Wagon project.

The Aim: to do the cheapest realistic and at least half reliable backyard budget v6 turbo conversion, giving price figures for others to see how much it costs to do a conversion. Ive looked at a lot of others turbo v6 rides and constantly see people asking how much it cost, and a lot of guys dont want talk cash when it comes to their pride and joy. So heres my write-up of the cheapest possible scenario, and trust me im a tight-ass that doesnt want to waste hard earned cash, so dont expect to be able to do it much cheaper than this, this is the ultimate ebay turbo conversion, hopefully with cheap parts proving to rate well against the expensive ones, hahaha. The car is still registered so once finished ill be able to drive it out to the drags and see how it goes on the 1/4 mile. If im really lucky it will be ready for powercruise at qld raceway in september and ill be able to really give it hell. I think i can do this for less than $1600 bucks, but im realistic and know that things dont always go to plan.

PURCHASES TO DATE

apexi turbo timer $24 delivered (ebay)
Adjustable 38mm wastegate $89 delivered (ebay)
T3 Turbo flange $30 delivered (ebay)
Cheap chinese blow off valve $59 delivered (ebay)
Aluminium Intercooler Piping (bends, joiners, clamps in a kit) $125 delivered (ebay)
Dump pipe flange $24 delivered (ebay)
Bosch 044 Copy Fuel Pump $89 delivered (ebay)
2.5 ltr aluminium surge tank $84.95 delivered (ebay)
3" to 2.5" 90 deg silicon bend for intake $17.99 delivered (ebay)
Turbo oil feed and return line kit $65 delivered (ebay)
2x 2.5" to 3" straight reducers for intercooler $19 delivered (ebay)

TOTAL TO DATE: $1336.94

The Progress: I have fitted up the intercooler, and all of the piping except the bits that join to the turbo. All the steam pipe has been welded up to make the manifolds, i know it looks rough as but it still needs finishing touches and im hoping it all holds together. Ive made it so i dont have to take off the manifolds to change the spark plugs, and so the air con can also stay.

Next Steps: fit turbo, fit oil feed and return lines, fit wastegate, , fit blow off valve, fabricate a dump pipe, install surge tank and fuel pump, relocate coil packs and extend cabling to them and if i ever get to it fit the turbo timer

Looking to purchase (on the cheap, lol) : 2bar sensor, a 2 bar tune (any help finding one of these would be greatly appreciated), fuel hose for the surge tank,

If any sees anything in my parts or project that may cause issues or has caused issues in their setup please let me know as id rather learn from other peoples problems and not my own. Especially when i havent had much to do with turbo setups before.

Also anyone who is thinking of doing a project like this at home, you need lots of motivation, and more importantly dickloads of spare time. I saw a few turboed v6s on the net and thought it wouldn't be too much hassle, now a few months in ive realised the effort that goes into a conversion like this and have a new respect for others that have done similar.

Nice work! I plan on putting a Turbo on my VS soon, I've talked to the guys at Exile Motorsport and they reckon supplied and fitted for about 2 and a half. It's nice to see someone out there giving it a go. The only thing I reckon is, in my opinion that Turbo is huge lol is there standard internals in the motor?
