Massive difference between doing a skid on a closed piece of concrete that is owned by a friend or relative and doing 200 clicks on a narrow piece of public road. Just saying.
Also it states that it stiffens things up on that site, don't know if you can comment but what are your thoughts?
looking good mate, hows the progress with bumpers etc going, looks and sounds good how does the drive compare to the original clubby sweeeeet ride will keep watching your progress
I remember reading that stiffening the chassis was the initial reason for peteVX6L's purchase and he said that he was very happy with the results. Its results in the crash were just a very big bonus.
I had the kit installed for around 2 years. My personal experience with it was positive. Especially cornering and off the line. I felt that the chassis in it's stock form would flex a lot. And once you put more horse power through the drivetrain it becomes more evident. As soon as this kit was installed I noticed a huge change. But again, that's my personal experience. But knowing how much more strength it gave us in the accident makes me want to install one again. Not that I'll be doing stupid speeds on public roads again. I'll be saving that carry on for the track days.
Thanks! In it's current form it feels pretty average to be fair. It sits too high but a few things left to do on it yet. The bonnet, rear spoiler, bumpers and side skirts are getting fitted this weekend. It's been a mish to find genuine new HSV parts like bumper brackets etc but we've got almost everything now. Next week it'll be getting certified and road registered. I'm removing the "cut-offs" motors and replacing them with plates just to keep the certifier happy as they aren't legal on the road. You aren't allowed to operate them from inside the cab. No worries. Coz I want the ride lower the Bilstein shocks in it now might have to get replaced with shorter ones. Thinking of adjustable Koni's. Still not sure about that at this stage.
Yes, there is a big difference. But the amount of **** that happends thats unforseen is crazy. I'm being protective over the bloke and his car, because i feel a decent amount of empathy for him. Everything in a vehicle has some danger no matter what your doing. I don't see why thats an issue with you?
I hear ya. And thanks. I've used the skid pad for a number of years now. I don't really see it as a challenge, more just for fun because we can. As redneck as it looks, safety is paramount.
The new 19's look better than the last wheels I think. Just needs lowing from this height before I'm happy.
def needs a drop from that height-4x4 territory-lol thanks for the update, will wait till next week to some more shots really can not tell she was a stocky though
Another step closer. Still the final buff to do, decals, lowering and groom. But I'm pleased how it's looking. The boys at G Milne Collision Repair are doing a fantastic job.
Hasn't been to bad. Because I already had good running gear from the old one, the whole build owes me just over 12k to date. $6000 Paint and panel. $6000 Body shell, running gear swap and some extra parts.
