Hi all im looking to upgrade my intake on my VY V6 and have raised a few questions,

1: I want a 68mm intake is there a 68mm flow meter?

2: can i run with out a flow meter? If so how?

3: I have been looking at a growler kit are they any good?

4: and last not so much on the intake but were is a good place to tune the vy v6's in perth?

Any thoughts and tips will be much appreciated thanx :D

with regards to q2. you can run it without the MAF. Its called a Maf-less tune. Contact the1 regarding a tune/tuning advice.

or you can run the LS6 (Ithink its th LS6) maf wth a tune which is larger.

And +1 for The1 for the tune.

you shouldnt need a larger flow meter unless you have a bigger cam or forced induction.

in regards to the growler intake. There is a company called Mace which sell a cold air intake and its less money then the growler intake and work a lot better too and i few members on this forum (including me) are running them with positive results

Not trying to be rude, but why would the mace intake work a lot better when they are basically the same thing? if anything I would say the growler would work slightly better due to the shape and ram effect of the airbox.

MACE CAI = $270. 'Expected' gain of 5rwkw.

Growler CAI = $410. 'Expected' gain of 12rwkw.

Many factors come into play when talking 'expected' power figures.

The only way to actually know is to purchase both and dyno tune them.

Majority of members here have the MACE CAI.

so who has any "hard" data for the airbox thing. Note that if you get a tune at the same time you CANNOT tell what gave you what change in the result.

Any data out there for just the airbox thing? I have NEVER seen any. Just a lot of talk.

Never met a person who's been happy with a growler..

Mace/mrc performance or bye performance. Best options hands down.

As for your maf there's no need to change it mate unless you've really up'd the hp!

Also for tuning there's really no point on a stock vy as far as power goes and stock means anything up to and including exhaust, extractors, cold air intake etc.

The vy ecu is very well set up from factory.

There are gains to be had but dollar per second shaved off the quarter mile diff gears or high ratio rockers etc are better off.

Electrical work, Adelaide all areas.
Pm me.
