    One deal!

    Hi,

I lent a $3K GM Card rebate to a friend. He ordered an SV6 ute months ago when the price was something less than advertised now - $32,950 I think. By the time his dealer had the car, it turned out to be an MY10 with SIDI.

I understand that direct injection offered increased power and better fuel economy. However, Drive tested Holden versus F**d at Mt Panorama and claimed the F**d gave better fuel economy. Other road tests have indicated the reverse.

My friend is getting significantly worse fuel consumption than I am getting out of my MY09 SV6 sedan. Now mine is manual and his auto, but that is surprising. Has any one else able to let us know how the SIDI engine is performing in real life?

the way he is driving most probably, also need to look at the type of driving he is doing, short trips, alot of cold engine running etc

Could be the way that he is driving it, but his driving profile is much less severe than mine. He drives about 25 Km rural roads to work and back again. Getting about 14L/100Km per trip computer.

I get about 10.5L/100Km on shorter suburban drives to and from work.

There could be a calibration issue with his trip computer. Holden have told him to wait until his 3K service before making a judgement.

bathurst aint a real indicator anyway, to be honest I would avoid the 3.0L alloytec unless MOST of your driving is in the city and u do alot of stop/starting, for everything else get the 3.6l, rapes down on the f**d offering
