VE SSV ute
Hi There,

Long time viewer, first time poster.

This is my MY10 VE series 1 SSV ute, recently cammed and loving the drive.

Specs:

MY10 VE SSV Ute
Manual
1 7/8 Stainless headers
100cell Cats
Full 3" stainless cat back w/varex rear mufflers
VCM OTR
VCM 883 Cam 228/238 .600" / .603" @ 113
VCM Pushrods + manley dual valve springs etc
Pedders coilovers

306rwkw and 790nM and a drinking problem.

Thats about it!

Incase anyone is thinking about camming their L98, the 883 works well but lacks low down power, but reaaaallllly delivers top end. The power output in the end was a bit lower than i was hoping for, but drives and pulls like a freight train, what else could you hope for.

To boot, VCM are having sales so anyone that hasnt done it, get on it. Best decision i ever made!

What diff ratio ya got???

239/247 cam/heads in my Ve ute and the 3.7 diff makes it awesome to drive

don't worry bout the dyno, your reading is properly about right in real world result , too many worry about peak hp number

Ran out of coin for the diff gears to be done, so i'm dealing with stock ratios. its still easy to drive, but as a result it feels like a spooling turbo haha, and with the 1 7/8->100cell->3" the thing screams and its very hard to not want to give it full beans.

I'm not too worried about the dyno result, it was mainline so naturally is a bit lower. It's all about car feel from how it was, to now. And its fantastic!

I am having a lot of running in issues though, its got low rpm missfires, and backfires out the intake every now and again, VCM are having a look at it again next week to try and sort it out

Absolutely not, just trying to keep it clean and enjoying the drive at the moment.

Small video- excuse the rubbish sound quality produced from the rubbish iPhone 6s mic, to be fair the car is extremely loud.

The idle doesn't come across great either, but in person it's very choppy.

Actually, ask and you shall receive.

Diff exploded yesterday. I'll tackle that Monday night at work. Not really thrilled on that

Looks the goods mate! Too bad about the diff, but I suppose you can get one with a better gear ratio.

If you want, I know a diff builder who has done my last 2 diffs and they've been tight and great. No tru-track, just brand new TIMCO bearings all through with genuine gears. Second hand gears in good condition for about $950, and brand new was like $1300.. But this is from memory.

He's located in Keysborough if you're keen.

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I'll keep him in mind we do a fair few at work.

Needed it rolling again so I just picked up a 2nd hand unit, done just over 45k out of a GTS with a gear set of 3.7s.

It's combatted the low down power loss of the 883, and it also has a tonne more traction, as for some whacked out reason when I got it up in the air I noticed it had a 2.92 no lsd in it :/ how bizzare.

Any who, all sorted now and still running wonderfully.

I'll get a picture up of the diff damage soon, it's pretty impressive.
