Been lurking around for sometime here (very useful forum, full of great information) and finally got off me ass to sign up. Picked up a MY12 VE SS-V Sportswagon Redline at the end of 2011, and is my first Aussie car and V8 for that matter. Have always driven Euros and Jap cars, but needed a big wagon for family duties and to lug around bikes, camping gear etc. Nothing else came close in terms of space, safety, performance, price etc. I'm actually very surprised and happy with the VE so far - much better than I have expected. Cheers to anyone having a squizz at this! Current Mods: - VCM OTR CAI - DiFilippo 2.5" Full Exhaust System with HPC Coated Headers - Comp Cam 224/230 & HD Valve Springs - DOD Delete Kit (LS7 Parts) - MAFLESS Tune by Powertorque Engines - Tein Super Street Coilovers - VE HSV 3.7 Diff - Brembo 6 Piston Front & 4 Piston Rear Brake Kit - Walkinshaw Braided Brake Lines - Bee Sting Antenna - HID Low & High Beam 4,300K Kit Future Mods: - Staggered Rims in Matt Black - Ripshift All work done by Powertorque Engines - love their professionalism and work. Very drivable, heaps of torque, sounds great. Photos:
Cheers for the comments fellas! Aussie Willy: Lack of foresight in what we ended up doing with the wagon was the reason. If we knew it would end up like this, the SS-V would have been the choice. But either way, could always just leave the brembos, and upgrade the rotors and pads etc. More importantly, it definitely needs more rubber in the rear! (PS: Love your SSV Ute, great colour choice too!)
thanks, I voided the warrenty on my ute allready ), I like the colour too, but you could wash it every day if you wanted ((
I bought the VE wagon for the exact same reason. But I had to get mine Auto.. that mistake will never happen again!
Nice wagon mate! Love the colour and mods! Paint the rear brakes red cause it looks wierd having red brembos and silver rear..
Cheers for the comments guys. These wagons are seriously damn sexy and useful family cars, wife wanted me to cam the hell outta it too (something about that old school lump and noise which reminds her of WWII fighter planes)! Yeah bugger auto, I'd fall asleep from boredom! HSV5L: Thanks for the suggestion, a good ideal and will add it to the list of things to do.
New Wheels & Brakes all finally arrived, now to get off my ass and get it all installed etc. Staggered Rims 20x9" and 20x10" Front 6 Piston Calipers & Slotted Rotors Rear 4 Piston Calipers & Slotted Rotors Front Brake Pads vs Rear Brake Pads - The 6 Piston Caliper's pads are massive!
Nice wagon, gotta love a 300kw family cruiser. How do you find the Tein SS coilovers, thinking of getting some in the near future.
I find the Teins SS great! They are quite comfy I believe for a coilover setup, when compared to the D2 kits etc. My wife was pregnant for most of the time with the Teins and she had no complaints - unless the road quality was shocking. No reliability issues to report - have been on them for 12 months now and covered 14,000kms on them. I also have the Tein SS kit on another car, which are still going fine - they would be a good 5+ years old now with a good 50,000kms on them, and spent a good 3+ years of monthly track days. The only other kit I was considering relative to the price is to H&R Coilover kit - but I believe they are only height adjustable.
Getting there slowly. Just need some braided lines, rear guards rolled to accommodate the new wheels (and get some rubber), new wheel nuts, and spacers in the front as the rims just rub the calipers.
The wheels are Bavaria BC10's 20" staggered. More photos - all done, just need braided lines and maybe another bleed!
