For anyone looking for a Redline wagon, which IIRC are hard to get this year, Suttons Arncliffe (Sydney) appear to have a Slipstream Blue one parked out front.

I am 99% sure it is an MY17 Redline - it has the blackout treatment and Redline wheels - although I suppose it's possible it's an SS with blackout and Redline wheels on it. I can't remember the brakes now.

Unfortunately Calaber I'm tipping China with an outside chance of India, that's where most of our manufacturing plant goes. The multi-nationals have a lot to answer for, playing Governments for all its worth with free trade agreements but of course, that's just my opinion. Just as well we're now "the smart country".

I'm guessing that anything of value will be re-used or sold by GM. Whatever is left is usually cut up and sent to scrap metal as it is too heavy/bulky to transport and is useless/worthless to anyone outside the auto manufacturing industry.
I can vaguely remember when Mitsubishi closed their plant in Adelaide they held an auction to get rid of some of the equipment and a lot of it ended up on Grays Online.

They also shipped in a large number of Chinese workers on visas who worked day and night to pack up the reusable plant and then ship it off to China, there was an uproar about it in sa at the time

If Holden had an over abundance of body shells, that might be a possibility, but I doubt it...

Anyone know if your order / buy an MY17 SSVR Ute, if you have any choice weather it has the blackout pack or not. And the rollbar they have put on them? Id prefer to have the chrome back, and no rollbar.

Yeah I've been through that dilemma myself. Definitely no chrome on SSVR, blackout is standard. SS still comes with chrome though.
If you really want the chrome your only choice is to have it retrofitted. I decided against that as I'm not keen on the idea of having a brand new car pulled to bits. I will just learn to live with the black.

As far as i know, parts that can be used in other gm plants like robots etc will be bought by those o/seas gm plants n used there : other parts will b auctioned off through normal processes i assume :

The "chrome" is garbage,..replaced all mine with BLACK. I even removed the nasty SS form the side. OMG, the car looks so much better!

It's so easy to do, I really wouldn't worry and just get the cheap OEM parts on eBay. It's a lot easier when the car is new. Your not pulling it to bits,..it's really not that hard. You not doing any damage,..all the parts are designed to be replaceable on a car these days.

It's a matter of personal taste. Some like the chrome some don't.
It's probably easy enough to change over as you say, but I just prefer to keep the car intact. The front bar needs to be removed which is simple enough, but there is always the risk of damage. From what I have read, the trim around the windows is very fiddly and results in many broken clips and tabs when disturbed.

I also think you would be in the minority who thinks that removing the SS badge from the side looks better. To me that is a highlight of the car. It looks like an SV6 without it.

Hey Zero. At least the black surrounds will in some way help define our redlines as 2017 models although i agree the chrome would be much nicer and would define its top of the range status more appropriately. Just out of interest do the 2017 reserve editions have the black trim treatment ? After all they don't have the black rims do they ? Just sayin. The badges are all staying on my redline.

G'day RedBadge, I would have liked the badges to stay on the MSE's. I know its just personal taste but I reckon the blackout looks great with LMF, so much so I would have paid for the blackout pack with that or any of the light colours. IMO the chrome looks better with the darker colours, just more contrasty.

Not a fan of the chrome. Looks a bit tacky for my liking but all personal. Most upmarket sports cars aren't covered in chrome.

Hello Martin. I managed to secure a black roof also. 1 of only 2 allocated to the dealership this year. Would have preferred a chrome one but....... (joking).
Did you manage to sight a Nitrate MSE yet mate ? My z series was nitrate and one panel beater could match the colour very close whilst the other was way off. 2 x kangaroo strikes. My dealer has sold out of MSE's and was only allocated 7 W1's. On another note just replaced the Potenza's on my sv6 due to a puncture. 65k kilometres out of them. Would have got close to 70k kilometers in the lead up to winter. Sticking with the bridgies again.

Everything I've seen/heard the my17 redlines come with blackout and the sports bars fitted factory. I'm sure there's a good chance if you spoke to a dealer you'd be able to get the chrome and sports bars removed as part of the deal. I was dead against the sports bars but they are growing on me.

I'm about 8 weeks away from picking up my my17 redline ute in heron white and planned on removing them but will wait and see. I'm led to believe they bolt onto the existing tie down points so shouldn't be hard to remove if need be.

I like chrome on the white commodores, it breaks up the white and black.

    Hey RedBadge,
In an ideal world I would have preferred the my17 Redline to come with chrome from the factory, but it isn't to be and I have to accept it for what it is.
Like you said, the black helps define it as a my17 Redline so retrofitting chrome will have a negative effect as it will then appear as a base SS or a my16 car.
As mentioned by a few others, the black looks quite good with LMF and other light colours (it has actually grown on me quite a bit), however on phantom black it just looks plain wrong.
