Hey all, new here and about to sign up for a SOAG SS manual. My first Holden after being a Ford die hard my whole life - just can't like the new Falcons no matter how hard I try. The SS just seems a far better looking and overall car. Still got a Ford in the garage though, always will.

Anyway learnt so much from these forums and this thread in particular, such a great resource.

I've just got one query about my situation. After trying to buy from my local dealer (country town) he informed me they can't get any more manuals, so I've gone interstate, and am ordering the car over the phone. I've put my order in (July delivery) and paid my deposit and the dealer has sent me the contract to sign, however there's no estimated delivery date on the contract.

Now, I've never bought a car in this scenario before. And by this I mean I've never ordered a car so far out from the delivery date, nor done it over the phone and had the contract sent to me. Is it normal with a delivery date this far out to not have an estimated date on the contract?

Thanks for posting those pics! Helps me with my choice, as my eyes keep being drawn back to the Slipstream Blue car behind it...that's probably telling me something.

That's kinda funny actually, they changed the tyres over and sent the originals back to HSVi....with the transmitter caps... so I will find out when new caps arrive!.

My boss got a Slipstream Blue Calais V a month or so ago. It looks really good, and I can't recall ever seeing another one.

Hmmm. Very similar colour TML. But a bit darker than the one I'm referring to I think? The name saffron gold comes to mind? From memory it was only used on a handful of 2000 model Executive's which were for high performing dealers. Well that's how it was told to me by the dealer anyway.
But you may be right. That may be the same colour.

This was quoted to me 29th Jan and same as your quote it was D/A manual with no options.
I'm sure the dealer would still quote the same price.
He told me his allocation was 11 auto's and 7 manuals.
P.S. this dealer in Sydney was a pleasure to deal with over the last 12 months needless to say he has my signature on a contract with a $1000 deposit.

I got offered a similar scenario. Order and pay a deposit over the phone from an interstate dealer, for August delivery. Then freight had to be organised. I'm not sure about doing this though. Its a lot of buggering around in my opinion.
But anyway, that came about because my local dealer cant garantee me an SSV redline ute because he wasn't allocated one. He says I should know in a week if he can do it.

Really, I think this whole thing with these "Allocations" is not good at all. All models should be available to order by anyone around the country at their Holden dealer weather they are in a regional area or not. I'm really quite disappointed. It should be a first in best dressed method for anyone anywhere. Rather than allocating certain cars, to certain dealers, in certain places. Causing headaches for people who want one.

I was looking at getting my wagon in slipstream blue, but dealer had an empire bronze car, and I ended order that colour.
Empire Bronze was one of those colour you also needed to see in the flesh to get the full effect of the metallic finish, and colour change at different angles, like soag, lmf, and some like it red hot.
Photos, and holdens website don't do them justice.

Thanks for the response, yep agree totally re the allocation for each dealer. It's only 400kms away for me, so I'll be driving across with a mate and will drive it home, meaning won't have to worry about delivery fees.

So is it safe to sign a contract of sale with no delivery date on it? Or is it just that they wouldn't have a date due to it being so far out?

Congrats on the purchase Strattos, just make sure they write the estimated date of delivery on the contract. it shouldn't be an issue.
mine from a local dealer and we just stipulated the ETA of the delivery.

I have to agree on the ones I've seen (I haven't seen SOAG of that list); and Regal Peacock is another (not simply justifying our purchase :)).

Picked up my first ever Holden this week, having owned a few Euro models. It's a VF SSV Redline in SOAG. Am loving the noise and responsiveness. The dealer had in Stock and unsold a few new redlines in LMF, white and the bright green.

Diversity...... how does it work? Lets put it this way on the point of view of the boy's out there. We like girls (in general ;)) and some of us like em tall , some like them em short, some like em big and some like em thin, some like em black and some like em white, some like em draped over our cars and some like em inside our cars;). So as a general rule, we like girls but we prefer the look in different ways. Diversity its what makes us unique but at the same time similar. Say what you have to say with out being offensive and we shall all get along accepting our differences. :)
