hey all, ive got a 96 hsv clubsport which seems to have a mystery leak.. its not the transmission, and for a mechanic to look at it,theyd probably say its the rear main... but i havent needed to top up engine oil since ive purchased the car a year ago..(do regular oil changes though, but doesnt seem to be losing oil or needing a top up inbetween).. any suggestions as to what this leak might be? some days maybe only a few drops, other days a little more...

thanks for replying, its definately oil of some kind.. all under the bottom of the car.. the top part of the engine bay is clean,no oil anywhere... the oil leaking looks clean though, very light brown tinge to it,almost gold..

when was the last oil change? did you spill some and it is running down the block?
brake fluid? air conditioner compressor oil?
best you get under there and try following the trail.

last oil change was about 8 weeks ago,and no,not running down the block, ive degreased and cleaned the engine bay,top and underneath heaps of times and tried to follow the trail over a couple days as it takes about a day to work its way to the bottom where i can see it.. i am questioning the air conditioner compressor oil....il check that area,cheers...

Your oil level showing "Full" doesnt necessarily mean that you havent got a leak. The amount being shown could be being topped up by contaminants in the oil.
