I know every local council is different, but usually you are not allowed to bring a shed closer to the street than your house building line

Not much of an update but am starting to cull what quotes I have, after weeks of delays, wrong items in quotes etc etc.

The way I approach it is after the initial quote, if anything is out of order or incorrect, I ask for it to be amended. If it takes more than two weeks, or the information is still incorrect (like one amended quote that suddenly had different colorbond sheets and a 7k price increase for some reason) then it goes in the bin.

The shed kits themselves are all around the same price, approx 20k +/- 2k.

Ok so after a bit of a disastrous Xmas/New Year period due to QLD border closures, have turned my attention to this again.

Have accepted a quote, engaged town planner and now waiting for concreter to come out for final inspection and quote on additional earthworks.

Once done, a site plan can be drawn up for the town planner who can then get the ball rolling with council.

Was supposed to be poring my slab today but it rained. I'd say the pour will be Monday now, depending on the weather.

So got a quote for 130sqm of exposed aggregate driveway. Its basically a widening of my existing driveway to take in the shed. Almost $15k.

Minor earthworks required as confirmed by site inspection. No existing driveway to rip up and remove.

Does this seem reasonable @ $115/sqm?

I’m going to say yes. Check out forumhomeone.com.au.
It’s for people building a home etc and they will be all over this stuff like white on rice.

The DA was lodged with council a few days ago.

Bit painful - council want plans that show the entire house footprint in relation to the boundaries. Council already has a site plan but won't release to us because of copyright. We could have just drawn a simple 6 x 12 rectangle on it, annotated the distances between shed, boundaries and house and be done with it. So have just grabbed a screenshot from the councils GIS program that has a boundary overlay and used that.

Fingers crossed.
