Trans has a breather on top. However chances are the trans is fucked. Reasonably common for them to pressurise when they're gone.

Overfilled or cooked the fluid...any towing or skids?
Changes gears ok,slips or clunks?

Overflow hose near belhousing.

Check level & colour/smell of fluid...if dire take 2 panadol & post again.

From 4L60e common problems:

28. All fluid pumped out through the vent tube: Plugged cooler line. Flush the transmission cooler and cooler lines. Also could be overfilled transmission.

its coming out the filler tube which often means catastrophic failure. Might be worth a service and flush but need to decide whether its worth putting $150 worth of fluid through a trans that is probably dead. I'd be dropping the pan first and go from there.

When that happened to my VR - that is fluid flew out the filler when I released the latch on the dipstick - it was a blocked trans filter.
Replaced the filter inside the trans and all OK after that

That's what happens when the fluid cant pump up faster enough due to a blocked filter, causes slippage and build up of oil in the pan eventually blowing out of your tube. Hope it hasn't done it for a long time or it may of scorched your valve body and burnt out your clutch packs.. Check the codes and make sure the shift solenoids are still good. 5L of trans fluid should be enough unless you remove the return line hose and pump it all out.
