hi iv got a problem, my v6 is useing gas, iv found that my car dosnt have an o2 senser fitted (its got an cap fitted were it shold b) thers a cabl of the bottom of the throttle body thats just hanging ther and a wire is just looped back into itself (i think it orignly had 2 wires maby 4 the o2 senser). iv done self dianoses and got code 12? im in new zealand.if i got a replacment senser an cable do u think fuel economy will improve? also ive been told thers a temperitur senser sumwer that affex fuel economy, is this tru?
i thought new zealand didnt have o2 sensors due to emissions that were not as strict? if it didnt come with one (which i dont think it did) then dont worry about it but i know immorality put one in his vn?
true, true and definitly true. early second gen commodores didn't have O2 sensors in NZ because we still used leaded fuel. leaded fuel kills O2 sensors. what you need to do it fit the O2 sensor it should be a 2 wire job, the VS was the first model with the 4 wire setup from memory and then you need to get hold of the later version of the SV3800 tune to make use of the O2 sensor. the NZ tunes have the O2 sensor input disabled which is the reason your not getting any fault codes. as for your increased fuel consumption. it could be a number of things. try the simple things first. a good service, plugs, leads, oil and filter, fuel filter and some injector cleaner and new air filter. the temp sensors you refer to is under the thermostat housing, there are 2, 1 for the ecu and 1 for the dash temp gauge. so even though the dash is showing the correct engine temp the ecu might think the eninge is still cold and keeps injecting extra fuel for a cold start-up. if your going to be changing temp sensors i recommend that you also change the thermostat at the same time, no point dumping coolant twice:thumbsup: where about in NZ are you?
hay thanx, im in dannevirke. yea iv don air/oil/fuel filter and oil change, just done engin/radiater flush and nu coolent. i will try sum injecter cleaner, and get the leads/plugs checkd. were do i get the sv3oo tune? im guesing its a replasment memcal?
greenfoams your best bet at the mo. i would do it but my PC is having a mid life crisis and doesn't want to run the software needed to burn a tune. it's bloody weird. oneday i'll sort it. maybe i'll get motivated this week after o finish my current shift rotation. still need to get a memcal adaptor for the burner also
