Why do you require a key for a vehicle if you don't already have one !!!!

Have you requested a key from the lawful owner ?

Do you actually own said vehicle ?

Without an original, a Holden Dealer might be able to assist - doubt it though if they can it will likely cost $$$$. Not too sure about locksmiths and their ability to produce a key without one to copy from. They might consider a bit too 'sus'.

Umm maybe because it was stolen. Yes I own the vehicle. Do you think i would be dumb enough to advertise for all to see if it wasn't my car. Im pretty sure I only asked for recommendations not to get acused. So cheers but have a good day

Hi Nicole. Is it the key only that you need or do you need the black plastic body with the little knob sticking out of one end? I ask because I have a blank key (which will need cutting) with no plastic body. I also have a plastic body which belonged to my daughter's car which I no longer need and the right person can tune it to your car. Make me an offer and include postage and they are yours. Just by the way, the body probably needs a new battery. $3 at woolies.
Key, body and postage to WA twenty dollars.
Just by the way, any competent locksmith can produce a matching key from the number stamped into the barrel of the lock.
As far as ownership goes, your photo licence and rego papers in your name would be enough

If your spare key is for a VT graham then it won't suit a VE. I'm sure if you ring a few locksmiths and explain what happened and have proof of ownership there shouldn't be a problem . You wouldn't be the first person to misplace or have a key stolen .

you can pickup blank keys and transponders for around $100 on ebay but if you have no key to copy the cut and transponder code from it might be only something a holden dealer can sort out for you.

there are 3 things you need...
    a new blank key
    a transponder chip
a remote control circuit to lock/unlock doors

the hard part for a locksmith will be to make a key without an original to copy and also program the transponder chip without one to copy.
I think they contact holden with your vin for the info needed to reproduce the key.

if they cant do that then the vehicle might need to be reprogrammed to suit a new transponder code and also to accept the new remote control door lock/unlock code

I would ring your local holden dealer and ask them how much.

I am surprised a locksmith could even help in this situation because you have no original and if you were to just provide the vin you could get a key made for any vehicle, I would have thought only holden could help and they would also need to take the vehicle to their service department.

If the key isnt found, might be worthwhile to change the barrel/bcm and door lock anyway
