First, I'd say fix it up, get it running as an NA, clean it up, tint if it has none, a nice cut n' polish goes a long way though fix it mechanically before you do the cosmetic surgery, and once it's all nice and purring, throw a snail on it :)

depends what you want?

you on your p's?will it be a daily car?

bit more info please.if its going to be a street/weekend car you could save your self some cash and skip the tidy up bit.

but if your just having it as a daily car i would go like this.

lower it.
manual.
exhaust.
pursuit rims with caps.

I'd put something super hot in it and an epic fold back bonnet CAI + epic low suspension kit.

If you're fixing it up to be a daily i'd spend as little money as possible to get it reliable and safe. Your first mod should be a service manual and tool kit. Remember it's a $1000 car. Spending $2000 on Audio, wheels, and suspension mods is stupid.

If you're after a project/performance car I'd start reading up on turbo's and then decide how deep your pockets are

For your first quoted point, mine has a full sound system w/ sub and amp, and 17" VY SS rims. Not sure how much in total that would equate to, but a nice set of rims and a polish goes a long way on a neat looking VL. Although mine wasn't exactly a dunga to begin with I suppose. Not a stab at you BTW mate.

But yeah as monkeys has said about going project/performance, if you want to go the full turbo conversion (turbo, injectors, ecu, gearbox, diff) expect to put in some overtime. Not that it matters, mine's still going strong, Nath's is going strong and ours are NA to Turbo conversions but if it's gonna be a "performance" car you'd want to fork out the extra cash for the turbo gearbox, ECU, bigger injectors, full 3" exhaust, and of course a turbo (standard or high mount). There's a lot to think about if you are willing to spend the time and money on it
