Hello all, I need to tap into your knowledge once again. I was on the way to work this morning about 2 hrs ago and my VS Clubby just died period, no warning, no symtoms, just died instantly. i tried restating it and the motor turns over with no unusal sounds or characteristics but refuses to start, doesnt even partially fire. i checked my fault codes it gives me only 12's. but i pulled out No.2 spark plug and put it into the lead and turned the motor over to check for arc and there was nothing, so im thinking maybe distributor? is distributor mechanical?? any suggestions or similar experiences you fellas can give me wont go overlooked.

Thanking you Simon

Did you earth the plug when you checked for spark?

The plug outer needs to be earthed for the plug to fire while out of the motor?

Just checking.

yeh i did, i even filed away a bit of surface on the ac compressor to get better contact. im also thinking coils could be the culprit.
I'll be back, gotta go tow the car home...

Sounds ignition related 99% so prime suspects are dist cap and rotor, hall effect sensor in dist, coil or the prime suspect as Clint_G suggests is the ignition module. Good Luck.

Check through your ignition module, coils, sparks, leads etc...

Ignition system problem for sure.

There are 5 on Ebay right now all less than a third of Coventrys price. I wouldn't just go replacing bits....test them first.
