On the news tonight they were talking about increasing the alcopop tax as well as maaking it affect all alcohol, 1 point they mentioned was introducing a scheme where the drinks with a higher alcohol concentrate cost more, so you pay more for a full strength beer than a light beer.

opinions?

bad news for you Zuicider

haha my bad,m wrong article, they are bringing in new laws/ taxes, just announced on the news tonight, but they want to tax depending how strong the drink is, and it wont be just alcopops it will be all alcohol.

so you would have to pay more for full strength beer atc

They should just ban alcopops altogether. They're just a way drink into people who normally can't hold their drink anyway. Nothing that could go wrong there! :bang:

Didnt they just announce that the original alcopop tax failed? So lets jack it up even more, clearly the public is not in the best interest of the goverment, just another way to collect taxes.
There are already laws in place to stop these problems, THEY ARE NOT ENFORCED. Maybe the goverment should have a crack down and enforce the laws in place such as: Not being allowed to supply liqour to a minor, Not being allowed to suppy liquor to an intoxicated person. Simple enfore those two to begin with, it will cut down on people buying alcohol for underages or selling it to them. And if they are so worried about people getting drunk, then enforce the law of not supplying liquour to an intoxicated person, can it be anymore black and white?

big deal. People drink WAY to much alcohol these days. Myself included. Simple way to stop people from consuming is to increase the tax on it, and it worked with alco pop sales going down. Spirit sales have gone up but thats not what the tax was supposed to do, it was designed to reduce the alco pop sales.

Yes people can still just buy a bottle and some coke and get just as smashed but thats another story and another tax to combat this.

Stop your complaining.

they are enforced. anyone with an RSA knows what will happen if they supply alcohol to a minor. its a huge fine for everyone involved. if i have the slightest suspicion an adult is trying to buy for their kids, i keep an eye on it and stop them as soon as i have proof. anyone underage is asked for ID immediately
