Hi guys.

I have a bit of a problem with my holden commodore VT series 2.
I bought a new battery about 10 months ago and its supposed to last me
about 3-5 years but over the passed week the vt has not started because
i'm only getting 1.7 volts of the 12.5 i should be getting.

there is no electricity in the car at all and even the kilometers indicator has
turned off, at this point i don't know whats wrong and i need to get the car
fixed because i'm seen to get my red P plates.

I have tried buying new terminals for the battery but nothing.

I tried giving the car a start with jumper leads and its worked every time,
when i tried two nights ago the car wouldn't even start.

can someone please tell me what could be wrong like something in the car
is using to much battery and draining it or some wires could of faulted out
on me.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Could be the alternator or associated wiring.
Get the car started and put a volt meter across the battery terminals and see what charge voltage you are getting.
It should be around 14.2 Volts @ the battery.

Make sure there are no accessory components left on. Radio, subs, amps, boot light, glove box light etc.

Ow and just to add on to what happened two days ago with the car,
I put the key in and everything lighted up and was working.
it was reading 11.9 volts but when
i tried to turn the key over once more to start the motor nothing
happened. Do you think that the problem is the starter motor or
the wiring to the starter motor?

Tried checking if the battery is topped up with water?
Give it a good charge outside the car (least 5 hours with a trickle charger).

Unless that is a deep-cycle battery that battery is well and truly screwed at 1.7V and can not be fixed. Take it back and get warranty on it.

You might be right about the boot lid light because i installed a new boot lid a few months ago.
