I've always done the servicing and repairs on my own cars. I remember asking Holden Customer assist back in 1998 about doing my own servicing as I am a licenced Mechanic and they said, yep not a problem. I just needed to write my licence number in the logbook at each service.

I've never actually tried claiming a warranty issue whilst I have been signing off the logbook.

Has anyone had experience with doing their servicing and then an issue with a warranty claim?

Holden Warranty states that warranty is void if any work is done by an unauthorised person/business!

When i was doing work experience at a holden dealership couple months ago they said people doing there own work on new cars voids warranty because i was saying i wouldnt pay $800 or more for a service id do it myself and they told me its pointless because warranty pays for it anyway and it would only void my warranty. Personally iv never owned a new model car but im just going off what a mechanic told me at the holden dealership.

Holden Customer Service have acknowledged that any qualified Automotive Mechanic can carry out service and repair work which will NOT effect warranty conditions. Holden's disclaimer is "if a warranty claim was to be made, Holden will take this into account". Verbally their example was if the gearbox failed and the incorrect lubricant had been used then the warranty would be possibly void for that claim.
I can live with that. I have this in writing too:smoking:

Yer, that's right. I answered my own question.

I thought I would post the outcome for reference for others that could be in the same situation.

    Cheers
