Alright, so today I bought a new cluster that came out of a former police car at the wreckers so its got the different speedo, my mate said that it would make my car unroadworthy because it only displays 200 on the gauge instead of 220? Could anyone help me out with some info about it? Also, a while back last year around November when I brake the dash and park brakes light up, since then I've checked the head unit wiring which was done dodgy and I'm not gonna touch until I get another one, put new speakers in the front doors which were soldered and heat shrunk, replaced all the fuses under the steering column to their right ratings because half of them weren't the right amps. Edit: Last week I got into my car and the blinkers started going off without the key in the ignition, took the fuse out for it and they were still going, no idea what it could be.
The cluster will be fine tell them its a chaser and wind the ks back so there the same as the old one. Theres no roads in australia were you can do 220kph...
My car is a wagon so it might be a different story if the police take a look at it. I'm not gonna bother taking this dash apart and wind back the ks because I just got it and don't want to break it already.
instrument cluster will be fine. nobody will even notice it is changed. the dash lighting up when you put your foot on the brake will be wrong globe(s) in the rear lights. they need to be double filament, double contact. the indicators coming on will prob be a hazard switch fault, since it runs off its own fuse.
Thanks wamboin23, I replaced the left brake light with a globe which was most likely single filament which has caused my car to become a Christmas tree, so I'll get to Autobarn when I can this week and use up my gift card on some new double filament lights. So how would I go upon the indicators coming on and staying on?
