New engine? P0343 camshaft

hi,

I have a 2010 series 2 Holden ve with the LLT engine, car started running rough and lost power, hooked up a cheap scan tool and it gave me P0343, camshaft position sensor circuit high.

Got a new camshaft sensor in it but still runs like ****, Holden said I need a new engine.

What could possibly be wrong with the car? Any ideas? It has 240,000km’s on the car, serviced well, new timing chain etc.

Oh yeah, lady mentioned one of the cylinders has low compression?
