hiya,

I picked up these set of seats out of a caprice and had them re-trimmed etc. However with the electrics, my Statesman currently only has manual seats, Can I just simply add power to these seats myself to have functional?

Looks just straight forward as 12v and earth, just run my own supply?
There is a fuse in the under steering wheel fuse holder - big sealed silver sucker too. maybe loom is in there?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you could straight wire them, but I'd be looking for the extra factory plug in loom section out of a wreck to feed them neatly and correctly. In saying that there's not a lot of Caprices that find their way to the wreckers nowadays. Most are wrecked privately by Backyard wreckers like myself as I've been informed by one very non astute member on here.;););) (that I'm a backyard wrecker that is)

Also not absolutely sure if the BCM was different (number 379) for those though, at a guess I'd say not and it's the same unit as Statesman, happy to be corrected and more informed though.

Im rebuilding mine at the moment, they came out of a Statesman. Mine are the non-memory kind, so each seat only requires 12v supply. Just make sure when you wire them up, you use a decent gauge wire, as they will draw a bit of current when running.

Are yours the same? Do they have the memory presets for the drivers set or are they just powered? The car I pulled mine out of, only had 12v supply to each seat.

Side note Macca, what did they cost to get retrimmed?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you'll find that Electric seats were actually an option in the Statesman but not the same type as fitted in the Caprice with the 3 position memory which is that big silver box that holds that info and not the BCM as do the later model Holdens such as very late VY and VZ Calais etc.

Seats are in my storage shed for now, will check it out and circle back next time in there. I can't recall if they have seat memory or not. Couple of other jobs first then these seats will go in.
