i bought a new head unit and now my aerial up and down buttons are not working its all wired up right is there anything i can do to by pass the head unit
There is a wire that sends the signal to the aerial. On your new head unit you might've had a wire called "Power Antennae" and on Kenwood stereos this is a blue wire. It sends a signal to the BCM and then the BCM controls the Power Antennae. When it doesn't receive a signal, it's always in the "down" position meaning it'll always return back to down if you press the up button. You didn't mention it, but I'm assuming your car is a high end bcm meaning it's a Berlina, Calais or Statesman. I've only got an executive with a low end bcm but I upgraded the power antennae on my car to an electric one using the power antennae and power antennae module from a VP Calais to bypass changing the bcm. To bypass your head unit (if it's missing a power antennae wire) you hook the wire used to signal an amplifer instead. This is an external 12V+ wire.
good guess its a Berlina yer i think the motor might have just **** it self oh well i did hook to the bule wire but i will do a few more test before i have to rip it out
Looking at my wiring diagram, there should be a yellow wire (with red trace) that goes to the bcm, i believe this needs to connect to the blue wire on the new headunit. Let me know how it goes i'm trying to suss it out now before i install mine. Cheers!
Sorry, I thought you thought he meant the car motor and why was he worrying about the stereo when the engine is stuffed.
