ive seen some of the chevy ss guys order them, but they were having quite a few issues.
they (kayhan) flew a tech out to one of the guys for a day of diagnostics
they were needing a new harness for their heat/cooling seats, and certain left/right hand swaps werent working
and various other software fixes needed.

Don't think I'll want to be an early adopter....

Same here. If those questions are answered and the bugs are minimal it will easily be the best option.

Is this using a Android tv box plugged into the aux port? Looks good in the video.

Looking at the video and how he switched to aux for sound and then double tapped mute to change the screen input they are using a hdlink box which has a hdmi to gvif port and uses a small cheap android box for the android auto etc

    This is the hdlink box.

They are pretty crap and the kayhan one will be better as it is a proper replacement unit.

Looks like it works well in their video. I guessing they aren't showing us it all. What are the negatives?

There are a number of that type of setup available and most of them dont have a very good reputation for working well.
Most of the problems will come down to them using the cheapest hardware for the android box as in crap cpu and a low amount of memory and you are still stuck with the mylink.

Personal opinion on carplay and android auto is that they are crap and have limited app support and for me i would rather total control over what apps i can run even if that is video while i drive.

A full replacement will be the better alternative and kayhan is the first i have seen to offer it.

You can get a aerpro kit to install a normal 2din headunit but the plastic fascia they offer looks like total ass.

    I wouldnt install it lol

Avoid at all costs. Tried to do an install in a Pajero after they promised was plug and play. Unit seemed promising but was laggy and outdated. Didn't fully intergrate. Only Android 7 so won't run lots of apps like Netflix Stan and Foxtel Go.
When I asked for supoort installing after waiting 5 days was abused threatened and called every name under the sun.
Worse company I've ever dealt with.
    BEWARE AND AVOID!!!!

Sounds pretty bad but just to clarify netflix stan and foxtel all work on android 7.
they can have issues with rooted devices so their headunits might be rooted.

When trying to run Netflix Stan and Foxtel Go they all reported not compatible with the version of Android

Android 7 is still used on millions of devices so if apps dont support 7 they lose out on millions of devices.

The oldest device i have with netflix on it is android 4.2 but as i said if it is a rooted device the apps detect the root and fail to work correctly and you wont be able to install them from google play as google play detects the root and says the app is incompatible.

Depending what SU it is rooted with. Be nice if it was something like magisk and then you could use magisk manager to hide the SU files from prying softwares..

Most of the time it is just the basic su root(no frills) in the cheap asian devices but you are right if you could get magisk working on it things would be much better.

Some apps will still work if you sideload them and unless they have patched it you can still get netflix to load deleting liboemcrypto but it is my guess that Ajgrant63 had a rooted device that was giving the incompatible message and he/she confused it with being android 7 that was causing it.

The other disappointing part is no sim slot so have to get mobile wifi or hotspot an old phone. The ve2 unit does have one.
