    Hi all,

    I love the forum.

    I bought a VR Wagon, Manual V8 Today. It has a Gas conversion done on it so I can use petrol or gas. When I test drove it yesterday, I checked the switch for the gas and petrol option while driving and had no problems at all. Tonight I drove and when I clicked to gas the car stuttered a bit, then back fired and stalled. I started the car and immediately clicked back to petrol and had no problem. I clicked to gas again later on and it converted fine but when I put the clutch it keeps stalling (It wont idle). The fuel guage recognized the conversion, when I switched yesterday but today it wouldnt, the fuel gauge would go down to empty and the light would come on, I filled the car up and still made no difference. I only had the idleing problem and the backfiring after I filled up. Fuel gauge problem started as soon as I drove away. I will remain on the petrol option until I can get this problem solved. It is actually more economical on normal petrol than i thought.


    Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong??

    yes, it needs to be tuned. gas needs to be regularly/once yearly checked and tuned to keep in correct working order.

    valve resession like what i had, got a pair of recon heads and its been all good ever since
