Hi

I just put new O2 sensors in this weekend and now on start up its running pretty rough and almost stalls on idle. Would it be a good idea for me to disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the ecu??

Also on another topic as I've recently rebuilt my engine and gearbox in my super 6 it requires a retune for my new mods. Is there anything I need to do before the tune ie service cleaning????
The car is still in run in process with only 700 Kim's since rebuild so still on the new oil and oil filter

Cheers

The 02 sensors shouldnt be the cause of the car idling badly, as the 02 sensors are not even used-(open loop mode) until they get hot enough to work-(closed loop mode). Id start by checking for any logged error codes.

Maybe you disconnected another sensor by accident pulling the O2 sensor plugs apart.

You only need to disconnect the battery for 10 seconds too by the way.

the engine uses the long term fuel trims to adjust idle mixture
in closed loop will be using O2 sensors and modifying short and long term trims
disconnecting battery resets long term trims
did you use genuine O2 sensors?
did it idle badly immediately or gradually get worse

How do you install the O2 sensor?

Is it as simple as screwing the new one in or do you need a sealant (like gasket sealant) on the thread when screwing in. Sort of like the oil pressure sensor.

Yes, simply disconnect the wiring connector and unscrew like a spark plug, no sealant is necessary.

I bought (and received today) my Bosch O2 sensors. Will install them when I receive the rest of my parts. So far I have received 5 parts of the 12 part order. Damned water pump has been delayed. :(

Cool naaf ill try it on the weekend pretty busy at work atm does it log the code as a number on the dash or signal flashes? Sorry may sound dumb but I just don't know I've never done it.
