the glovebox buttons can fail. the one in my car got stuck (even the button was depressed) and constantly had the boot popper going. I swapped it for another that I found on ebay and all is well. if you're filling the boot with stereo, maybe it's a good idea to only be able to pop the boot with the remote.
Footwell lights and leds straight swap also have same for rear , I don't have a/c at all never had car with it that worked. I normaly rip it out I got windows . My mate ripped it out. Also looking in engine bay no cruise control module either not sure if ill bother putting it back in again most cars I have had I removed that too lol, calais still has one could take that as its not hooked up being manual. As for boot lock I reckon ill whack a excutive boot relase in which is cable. Just to be safe if key does fail. Done heap more progress rear speakers are mounted and wire ready to hook up to amp. All rcas and trigger wire has been ran too I like to go straight done the centre. Caprice electric seat loom has been ran under carpet . And both front seats been removed. I also removed old garnish was glued on so old garnish didn't come off to well cracked to **** . Haven't put new one on yet as got dark and I don't have the right screw or mounting bolts to fit.
I'd die without a/c. we're still having 35 degree days right now over in Perth. I found this too when I swapped the garnishes. the VS series 3 ones seem take different bolts and lugs to the VR. I think if memory serves me well it takes bigger ones. I managed to find some that fitted though. I can't remember what ones exactly. if you like I'll take a photo of how I did it.
Alright, I couldn't live without a/c too. But it's your car and do what you want with it and cruise control would really nice if you do regular freeway/motorway. I didn't rememeber too, I think VS Garnish come with screws. I rememeber hard to put garnish VS in VR boot, I think I force little to fit in straight and then just put screws on and tidy up. You could go to wrecker find screws. You could make a cable/wire from where key area but key barrel is out and use small motor where it go to key. and use wire from there to put somewhere hidden if your key/glovebox don't work, you simply just pull wire/cable and it open boot and replace new small motor. Hope it help.
Yeah think might get some stud with same thread and try that but ig you could whack up a pic, finding it hard to get garnish to go in all the holes tho as I don't want to apply any force. I'm hopping if I can get bolts sorted I can tighten then and it will pull garnish through. And james I'm sorta gonna do what you say just no motor just like any excutive so can always open the boot
here you go. I used the plastic lugs from the old one and just got bigger bolts. the boot lock just pops out of place, and you can just disconnect the arm that joins the lock to the popper motor. it just slides out. the garnish then just fits over the top. be careful when you tighten it up and put it on, you don't want to put too much stress on one point because it will probably crack along the curved bits. I think that's why it's got those black spacers between the bolts and the piece itself. that's the driver's side where the boot lock would have been in that cutout. the bolt with the black plastic spacer is one of the points that you mentioned where hard to line up. the 2 bolts that are attached to the garnish in the bottom corners help to line them all up. don't over tighten any of them or it will crack. there should be 2 of those bolts sticking out of the garnish at the bottom left and right corners, obviously to line it up before you attach the others and on my car, I took the writing off and put the older style badge back on, I think it has a touch more class than the dirty big letters across the middle. the matching lights just line up and the old nuts should fit too. I found the lights where kinda fiddly to get them to sit just right so it lines up with the center piece.
Cheers mate, yeah I have already taken the lock out done boot locks few times. I let ya know how I go wish garnish . Ohk few update pics Rcas and trigger ran down centre Hidded and no seat hmm leg room almost a lounge Electric seat wires Got a vy sunnys holder plus stato doesn't have enough lights Now not sure yet but my vn had these so thought maybe whack them in wat u guys think , would rather then be black but its all I have. But don't want it to ruin the classy look of the stato. I dummy them in calais for pics
they would look better in black but it looks acceptable. I personally hate the gap below the stereo for putting your stuff it makes it look cleaner by not having it there. I always put my phone/wallet in the console. have you thought about replacing the grey carpet for black? that's on my list when I get around to doing some interior work to mine. love the sunnies holder.
I know black would really keep the classy look , I have thought of changing carpet while its all out and its quite dirty. But dunno if I would go black nothing else is really black . Black is nice and really dislike the grey but don't want to ruin the caprice trim turning it all black. I just couldn't have a mis matched trim
yeah I guess. the carpet is in good nick in my statey, just a little flat if you get me. I'd like to swap it eventually. I haven't got caprice door trims in mine I wasn't able to find a set, I'd love a set though. I've got VS Calais door trims in mine and they look nice. I wasn't a fan of the older style suede ones. you also have the same dvd deck as me. it's great, I've ran the ipod cable into the glove box and I keep a 80GB ipod in there with all my music on it. it's then just a simple matter of scrolling down the list finding the artists or albums I want to play or the playlists I have on there. It's basically a jukebox in my car with all my music on it (about 40GB worth) I'm thinking of replacing the ipod with a ipod touch so I can wirelessly sync it when my car is parked at home and in rage of my wifi network, so I don't even need to take it out of the car when I get more music. but I don't think they make one big enough for what I need.
I might get a new grey one maybe , but I got black carpet in my berlina and looks great. As for ipod I use to do same thing probs will do it for the stato too . But I think going by pics our deck are differnt models what year is urs ? Totaly forgot got this baby $40 what a steal
I can't remember the model number of the top of my head. it's a alpine one though. mine does look kinda different now that you mention it, it has a brushed metal finish below the screen. where did you find that bonnet emblem for only $40? I've seen them go for $150+. I'm kinda reluctant to get one, I don't really want to have to drill a hole in my bonnet or risk some clown snapping it off.
Yeah I feel the same but a friend found one and sent me that pic so I said yep ill take it. They found it at a wreckers. What a steal hey
$40...that cheap hey, Yeah you would have to drill hole in bonnet if you don't have hole already there, I like caprice badge. If you didn't go to shop with stato or something like this, then you should be OK.
Yeah its steal needs a clean but all gd. Yeah seeing its so cheap not to worried bout getting broken or stolen if it does ill just whack standard badge on as I don't have any badges. As for the hole I'm always down drilling holes in body parts lol .
You shoulda just bought my stato haha. Identical to that pic you posted and was already manual. I sold it so cheap too haha Ahwell. This is Jakes stato yeah? The paint came up well on it
To sunroof or not to ? I have a spare vn aftermarket sunroof still in car. Work great and i will be wrecking the vn. I would really like to do it myself to save cash but man thinking about it is scary. Does anyone know rough price to get it fitted by a pro in sa ?
