Well that painful time has come, car has done just one 50,000kms and the tyres are on the markers.
I've been and visited my local tyre place to replace the Potenza RE050A's that were factory fitted on the car but at $2500 for 4 i'm looking for a slightly smaller hole in my wallet.
Can anyone recommend a different tyre to the Bridgestones that offers similar performance but for a bit less coin?

Kumho KU-31 is a very poppular choice for the replace on the VE sv6. i am getting a set for $800 fitted and balanced in stock sizing 245/45r18. Wheel king down in vic sell them for about $235 fitted and balanced i think.

I bet they dont either, I did hear somewhere that Holden have changed to Michelin now rather than the Bridgestones.
I have had a bit of a look at some Yokahama Advan's as well but they are pretty expensive as well.

what i did is bought 4 sv6/ss wheels and tyres off a bloke on the hcc forum and they only done 500kms for $1000 as he was getting aftermarket rims, and sold the rims for $500 so the near new tyres only cost me $500:thumbsup:, the tyres are sitting in my shed waiting for the day for the originals to be replaced.

How big are your wheels? $2500 sounds like highway robbery.

my SS has 54,000 on it... the tyres look like they have a little left on them. I hope like hell they aren't worth that much!! I will definitely be looking for something cheaper

Kumho Ecsta's are a great tyre for a much more reasonable price.

I stop well short of calling them a "great" tyre. I had a set on my old car and they were all over the shop in the wet.

They are an Ok tyre, as indicated by their price.

all the reviews i've read on the net on the kumho ku31's rate them better in the wet then dry?

did you have the ku31 or older ku19?
