I was looking though Carsales today and decided to see if any new V8 VF2 Calais were still on sale. I was a bit surprised to find that there are still 3 or 4 listed, one with 10km and another with 23, plus a couple of demonstrators.
The VF2 went out of production nearly a year ago. Who would have thought there would still be premium models unsold this long after production ceased?

It took Ford over a year to sell the last Falcons and Territorys, despite the last examples of their vehicles being sought after on release.
I’ve also been looking at the unsold VF2s, for interest, not shopping, and I don’t think there is a market for them anymore, despite the wailing and teeth gnashing from grieving supporters. Due to dealer's scare tactics about availability, the drivers who wanted one, now have one. And those who were in the ‘maybe’ category are put off by the current pricing.
Holden’s questionable socio-economic and gender-variable advertising during the past year haven’t helped. I drive a Holden, therefore I am a bogan …. or gay ….. or maybe both …….

I think most are now classed at demo's and some dealers are still expecting to get top dollar for them. As said above, those who wanted one bought them already and now the greedy dealers are stuck with stock they thought they could bend us over and still get the deal. 6 months ago I asked on pricing for a SSV redline that was new. They wanted $65k. I said I would wait for the number to start with a 5. This same car now has over 7,000kms on the clock and they want $57 for it. I've been called a few times. Told them it would need to start with a 4 now, but I am not wanting to buy a second hand car that's been a dealer demo and one of their sales teams car to have the sh1t flogged out of it for 7000+kms.

No wonder these dealers are feeling the pinch.

There are a lot with zero, and very low kilometres, and starting with $5xxxx.

High 50's, just short of 60k still. The cars I looked at are June 2017 build and you'd have to wonder what the floor plan is costing them over 15 months.
Given that I'm over the SS stage of life but would love the luxury sleeper image of a V8 Calais, I would love to be in a position to grab one of the last top Calais made.

They don't appeal to me visually. I still like a bit of bling and prefer the standard Calais brightwork and wheels.

I think a couple of members on this thread are right. Dealers obviously saw an opportunity to up their profits last year by ordering the V8 models in the expectation of a greater demand than actually eventuated and the fact that so many are still in stock indicates the market for what is now basically a very old design, has flown. Remember too that Commodore sales were falling severely over the last couple of years of production and the poor sales rate of the ZB indicates that perhaps people just don't want Commodores of any model or configuration any more.

I like the Directors but TBH it's a sticker pack. If you can get past the **** red flashes, the Motorsport Edition has some substance to it.

I know the cars received extensive suspension work but I thought they were all very boring and cheap visually with a bit of black plastic trim and red decals. Hardly worthy of the"last and best" IMO.
