My mum has a blue VR sedan, she just got it back from a service today, the mechanic says that the engine is going, and to buy a new car (there is oil on the plugs) so she said she will give me the VR

Im thinking i should take the engine and tranny out of the VN and put it into the VR, i will have to convert the VR to manual as its an auto and the VN is manual.

Does this sound like a good idea, would it work?

Fair bit of stuffing around, but certainly possible. You might have issues putting an older engine into a newer car, although being the same block it might be ok. Might want to check with the local authorities first just to be on the safe side.

wait sry i missread, i thought u were changinf the transmission on the vr engine, the Series dosent matter in what i was thinking.

I dont know about the length of the tailshaft tho that would be my concern with the swap.
