    Hi all,

We just got a second VS today from the dealer and were just wondering if anyone can help us identify it and possibly help us figure out a few things about it.

It has no badges on the outside except for the Holden lions, and the only badges inside say "Sydney Special Vehicles", SRS and the ABS/IRS badge. When we bought it from the dealer and filled in the forms they said it was an executive, which is fair enough but I'm not 100%, it's either a well optioned Executive or another model. I get the feeling quite a few of these were added by the previous owner, but maybe not? (also helps with the insurance, factory fitted versus added later) Maybe SSV did something?

It has the following which make me question which model it is:
    - No strips on the doors/back bumper, front bumper has the strip but it's the same colour as the body
    - ABS/IRS
    - Cruise Control
    - Clear Round Indicators
    - Tail lights are the ones with the clear instead of amber indicator
    - S/C V6 CAI (k&n stickers on it, but opening it up reveals a paper filter)
    - Engine Cover painted red
    - Colour Coded Mirrors
    - Fabric on the door trims around the interior locks (pictured)

I believe this is a series 2 which is why I'm not 100% sure what Holdens themselves have done to the VS exec (if it is that) since series 1.

    Also not with identifying but a bit curious;
    - Pictured is a connector on the loom which isn't connected to anything, what's that for?
    - The remote has a boot release but pushing this button does nothing, is there a way to tell if the car is supposed to have it?

Here are the codes from the build plate:
    Model: VS8VK19-614
Trim: 15I - Grey Interior Trim
Paint: B148 - BOTANICA BLUE MICA
    Built: May 97

    Eng: LG2 - V6 ENGINE 3.8LTR
Aircon: C60 - AIR CONDITIONER MANUAL CONTROL
    Susp: STD - ????
    Axle: GU4 - AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
    Trans: M30 - 4SPD ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

    Thanks so much guys! :D

    May 97, shes a series 2.

Have a look through the My rides section of the VR - VS section and compare bits and peices.

colour coded mirrors and clear tail lights i believe are series 2 give aways too.

Read a few places on this forums that there is a connector like that one that isn't meant to be, i'd do a quick search round for it.

With the boot release, if there is a little handle on the right of the drivers seat (floor in front of fuel release) then no, but if there is a yellow (?) button in the glove box, then most probally ment to work.

blinkers are VT series 2, i gots me some too :p

I have no idea about the ssv though, could be dealer fitter options.

probably an acclaim as it doesn't have elec windows, or climate control.
My dad used to have one, they came with the clear indicator on the tail lights (only the acclaim, calais,s,ss,berlina Had them) airbags, irs etc, pretty much everything you mentioned bar the clear side repeaters, they were oval orange ones not clear, cai and the side indicators would have been fitted later, or to find out for sure ring holden to find out what it is. Boot release in the glove box should be black.

its an exec... all the things youve listed are simple wreckers replcaments..

if it had power windows, climate control, lvl3 dash etc etc,... maybe... nothing special there sorry.

    aZk.
