Mine needs doing, not so much for the smell as that goes, mine just doesn't get warm enough. I was thinking of doing it the sneaky way that can be done without removing the dash but am thinking it might be better to do it the right way and remove dash and heater box and replacing the damaged box. Trouble is I CBF doing it myself. I did one years ago and it took me over 12hrs. Sneaky way in the VR is less than 3hrs, proper way is around 8hrs plus a $130 for a re-gas, all up about $850, plus an evaporator. Luckily winter is nearly behind us. This gives me time to decide how I want to have it fixed, either way I don't think I want the hassle of doing it myself.

If theirs a slight hot coolant smell check if the heater tap thingy isn't split.
