Couldnt believe the bengals, scoreless for 3 quarters then almost stole the game from the steelers just to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with that head butt penalty, or whatever its called. Some good hits in that game.
Laces out! Too funny. The game had plenty of niggle. Bengals just imploded at the end of the game. I give Big Ben credit for coming back out and playing with a sprained AC joint and torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder. That took balls.
Divisional round of the playoffs had some great games. The Panthers and Pats pumped their opponents in the Seahawks and Chiefs early before stopping late fight backs. The Broncos put together one good quarter in the 4th to get away from the Steelers after swapping a bunch of FGs. The game of the week has to go to the Pack vs Cards. Rodgers threw his second hail-mary TD of the year to get them to OT. Only for the Cards Fitzgerald to make a huge run and take a quick toss for the winning TD. The last 5 mins and OT of that game was just crazy to witness. Conference games are set. Broncos vs Pats at Mile High and the Cards vs Panthers at Carolina.
In other big news that I didn't cover was the relocation of teams. The Rams have been approved to move back to Los Angeles leaving St Louis. The Chargers were given the first option to join them and it looks likely that they will since they trademarked the name Los Angeles Chargers. That left the Raiders as the odd ones out. They could stay put, move to San Antonio or the long shot move to San Diego if the Chargers move. Crazy times ahead for the next season. Besides that there are a heap of new head coaches in the league. Browns, Eagles, Giants, 49ers, Dolphins, Bucs and Titans all have new HCs. Coach tracker.
Broncos beat the Patriots in a close hard fought game. Panthers pumped the Cards. Broncos vs Panthers in Superbowl 50, Feb 7th (Monday the 8th for us).
The original report came out a few weeks ago but was shot down. The Reporter even closed his business. But the NFL will look into it AFTER the Superbowl. It wouldn't surprise me if he used to come back from several neck surgeries but its going to be just as hard to prove as was proving Brady deflated footballs.
Updates, both the Panthers and Broncos have landed in the Bay Area. The Pro Bowl has been played. Manning looks set to retire after the Superbowl. And it looks like Megatron is planning to retire as well.
I duly set the PVR to record the game and was looking forward to getting home from work, cracking a coldy and settling in with the young bloke to watch it. To both our disappointment, we discovered that it only recorded 2 hrs & 12 mins which meant we only go to watch until about 3 mins left in the 2nd qtr. I can only guess that 73 decided to make the 1/2 time show a separate program which tricked the PVR. Bastards !! From what we did watch Denver were all over them and Newton was overawed by the occasion. When we checked the stats online afterwards, they seemed to show a different story to the scoreboard in terms of time in possession, total yards etc etc. Just proves the point I suppose, lies, lies and damned statistics.
Being a Broncos fan for a long time it was great to get the Superbowl win. What a defense. Happy to see Manning retire going out on top (he will). Best moment "Elway: This ones for Pat!" Marshawn Lynch announced his retirement as well at the end of the game. Chris Martin got overshadowed by Beyonce and Bruno Mars and savaged online. Memes:
Up coming dates. Combine end of next week. Free Agency second week of March. Draft end of April. The league keeps on rolling.
Another Aussie pro athlete signed to the NFL.....and not as a punter. Wonder if he'll get the same media interest as Hayne ? Arizona Cardinals sign former Gold Coast player Joel Wilkinson to NFL
Probably not since he isn't an MVP or best player in rugby as the yanks say. He did pick one of the hardest teams to make as a cornerback though. The cards have a very good secondary. Obligatory gif.
