I'd rather come across a ninja then a pirate. For the fact these days, pirates are running around on 40-50' Cigarette's/Fountains/Some other offshore performance boat mounted with .50 cal machine guns. Very active in some parts of the Caribbean and South East Asia. Having known a couple people to have cruised around the world, you don't go unarmed as they will open fire on you.
