Hey guys, Been thinkin of buying a wii lately, cause im so over the ps2, and theres no chance i can afford xbox360 or ps3 lol. Spoke to a guy at the markets bout one, he says he can do one for me for $500 with a chip with 1 year warrenty. What you think of that? Or would it be better to buy one original and chip it later? Any one got a chipped one? Do you need anything special to burn the games? (Legit backups of course!) Also what sort of disks are they? -R, +R, DL+ or - or what? Thanks in advance guys.
haha dont ever buy anything from any markets.. especially something electrical thats been modified beyond manufactures standards! in 6 months it will die and the bloke who sold it to you will be nowhere to be seen
The wii is great fun with a group of people, partys and stuff, but on your own its not that great, my mate had one, was awesome for about 2 months, he ended up trading it on another 360 cos his old one packed it in, it takes a bit to get the hang of, and unless your with a group its not that fun. Personally, id be saving for a 360, Forza 2 is out soon, there are some awesome games on there allready, crackdown, and a few others, but once again, its a personal decision, its your money champ
Troy711: Nah, its not dodgey like that, i met him at the markets, he was selling like controllers and steering wheels and what not, and he has a shop, he just goes to the markets on a sunday to sell accesories and stuff Doctor Sodways: Yeah, i know its heaps of fun with mates, one of my mate has one, its crazy, and im not really that keen on the 360 or the price of it.....
Errrr wii's haven't been chipped yet lol and even if they have they use a non-standard disc size, so you can't burn a game and just play it on there. You've been had mate.
Yeah they are.. Do a search, there is 2-3 on the market already. Been out for months. Non standard disc size?? As in disc dimensions or file size? Everywhere I've read says you can use a standard dvd-r and it will work just fine. I'd buy it from the shops, get your warranty. Then get a chip later. http://wiichip.com/ http://www.wiinja.com/ http://www.wii-modchips.com/viper-wii.htm
For a dvd-r you have to run the things without a case as a dvd-r won't fit in the thing through the front. And last time I checked it was only the gamecube part of the wii hacked. Meaning you can only play hacked gamecube games, not wii games.
Granted the actual playing of backed up Wii games looks very new. But when I was searching yesterday I found a couple.
Yeah, they are definatly around, i found a few searching around the net, there are 3 main ones, but the best one seems to be the Wii Key. So is there any varification on the disc size? Will a normal DVD-R work or not? http://www.ozmodchips.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=8 There is a link to another dude that does the pre modded one, that ones with the Wii Key with 12 months warrenty for $490.
what mod have you done on the 360? i'm very interested because im only going to get it when the mods are available to backup my games & possibly play off the hd like my current xbox. cheers mate
You can replace the firmware on the dvd drive with a hacked one to make the xbox think its playing original games when its not. Can't play games off the hdd.
Ok ive been looking into it abot.... DVD-R should be fine, but not really sure how to backup the games. Apparently if u already have the ISO you can just burn it straight away no probs, but to back it up its really hard and need a LG drive or somthing, any one know anything about backing up an original?
cheers mate, do you recommend anywhere in particular to read up about it, or a how-to/guide sort of thing? i'v been out of the loop for a while. also do you know if you can still use play online with the modded firmware? thanks.
whats google say man? i haven't looked it up, but if i did you'd know as much as i would if you looked it up.
Yeah i have searched and searched, but one site says one thing and another site says a complete different thing, its hard to know whose for real and whose not. So far it looks like downloading and then burning the iso is the only way to go. I found a few things on ripping the original disc, and apparently u have to have one of 3 LG drives and the dumping process takes like 50 hours! so dont know if its worth it or not lol. Just need to find out if that true or not, or if there is an easier way. Also want to find info bout backing up on SD cards, and also if u can run roms on the virtual console from sd card and stuff like that, but its really hard to get solid info.
