Hey Guys, I'm looking at getting the kids a nintendo wii for xmas, and just wanted to find out a few things first. So if anyone has a wii and can help me out I'd be very grateful. 1. Are there illegal 'modded' wii's and pirated games yet? Similar to the ps2- and before anyone jumps up and down I am asking purely to educate myself so I do not buy pirated games as I do a lot of shopping online. I read that somewhere that there are pirate games and they usually dont come with instruction manuals or boxes, can anyone confirm? 2. Whats your favourite game? 3. I'm thinking of buying an extra 3 wiimotes, I've noticed theres a couple of game/wiimote packs out now that seem good value. Is it worth buying the 4 wiimotes- is there a decent amount of 4 player games? 4. Do the wiimotes chew batteries pretty bad? I've noticed that u can buy rechargable battery packs and chargers pretty cheap, is this something we should get? 5. Ive seen heaps of silly looking attachments for the wiimote, tennis racquets, steering wheels spatulas etc... are these just a stupid waste of money as I suspect or will they enhance your gameplay? Thats all the questions I have 4 now..... I may think of more later though :whistling Thanks in advance, Julie
eyy im not to sure about pirated games just yet on the wii, all u need is the chip in the wii and u can do the games urself on the computer... i use to do it for my ps2 just go dwn n rent a few games n burn it on a disc for da sony pretty easy... but if u buy em off sum1 they usally dont come with manual as ppl cant b bothered copying them... mine is still wii sports, pretty decent and fun game to play with m8's, my wiimotes r still using batteries cause i cant b botherd gettin rechargable 1's but its worth it so get em... ive got em on the xbox 360 saves alot of $$ buyin batteries everyweek.. n those attachments r just for the "look" purpose of things they dont enhance gameplay or ne thing like that, but mite b fun for the kids i spose.. ther only like $30 at EB
My little brother (Not that little) has a Wii so I can probably help out. 1. Yes there are pirated games out for the Wii, and yes normally when you buy a pirated game it doesn't come with instruction manuals or proper covers but some people go to a lot of effort and hide that it is pirated very well, so sometimes it can be hard to tell. 2. Ive been Playing Super Mario Galaxy over the past couple of days and its really good, and its not that hard so im sure younger kids wouldn't have a problem playing it. 3. I don't think that there are to many four player games on the market at the moment, but Wii Sports, which im fairly sure still comes free with the console is a four player game, and it can be a lot of fun. 4. They don't chew batteries badly, but it is nice to have rechargeable ones. 5. Yes they are a stupid waste of money.
Hhahaha!!! the Wii is so sweet!!! SO much fun!! Wii sport is wicked... kept me entertained for like half a year n still is a heap of fun with a few mates. Mario vs Sonic Olympics!! pretty cool.... some dud games in that some cool game.... played it last night... my arms are SO damn sore!!! Played some traditional games like call of duty and driver on the wii but the most fun i still think are games like the wii sports and olympics.. Also you got some pretty cool mario games like Mario Paper or sumfin... abit of fun too... In terms of battery... you can get a kit that comes with 2 rechargable battery packs and a charger holster for the remotes... BEST buy!! you jst leave the remotes in teh charger when ur not playing and they are always good to go!!!
Wii's are pretty cool. There are some good packs. I found a pack which had a WiiMote and a Game (genericy one) for like $80 when the WiiMote was around $70 on its own. And just recently got the Brain academy and a wiimote in a bundle deal
mario party 8 is realy good fun and is also 4 player... think of like a digital monoply with cool little mini games after each turn! wii sports is sweet (cant wait for a cricket game). im also lookn aty buying one as iv been very impressed with it.
Dont have one but played one, and its awesome! So much fun on wiisports. Never been so exhausted after the boxing mini game.
1. Really not that many chips and ripped games in AUS. 2. Can't go wrong with a few beers and Wii sport or Mario Party 8. 3. Just check what the games are first, I purchased one of the packs purely cause it was only an extra $5 on top of the cost of a controller......but the game really was worth $5 4. Depends how often you play. I have just purchased rechargeable's as I was going through the expensive ass batteries each week (talking like $25+ for 4 AA). 5. Don't change or enhance game play at all, purely for fun.
most of the questions have been covered already, but i thought i would add just a few things. keep in mind that some games require the remote and nunchuck, so for some multiplayer (say boxing or mario&sonic at the olymipics) games you need both, nunchucks are about $30, so to have four full sets of controllers you'd need to buy 3 x remotes and 3 x nunchucks ontop of the remote and nunchuck included with the console. its definately worth getting a docking station for the remotes, you'll save money in the long run. my fav game is guitar hero 3, but then i havent played the wii that much, lol. mario galaxy is also a top game.
oh what, didnt know there was a new mario party out... use to love playing those games on the 64, thats one of the best games to play with a few other mates and wii sports is some of the best fun you can have after a few beers too... think i know what i want from santa now
Only played my lil sis Wii once, played Zelda.... lame game (im more a first person shooter) but it was sooo much fun actually slashing oponents
1: Im unaware of pirated games. I owned my Wii from the day it came out till i sold it not long ago. 2: Favourite game would have to be Zelda, infact there arent that many other games on there i actually bothered to get (hence the reason for selling it) But your kids would probally get a lot more out of it then I did with the various arcade games they have. 3. Just like the XBOX 360 remote, the WII will eat your batteries like a dog eating choc cake. Definalty buy the recharable pack/recharable batteries. On average my batteries lasted about a week, so over a month or two the recharables have already paid for themselves. 4. The steering wheel is probally the only extra thing i would get and i would only get it if i was buying a Need For Speed or something of that sort, and Need For Speed with steering wheel = FUN! Like i said in number two, kids will get a lot more out of this console than teenagers-young adults like myself. The games on there i found to be directed at younger kids (like the tennis stuff... if i wanted to play tennis i would go outside and play tennis) and all i wanted to do was hack peoples heads off with swords and shoot people. So i got XBOX. Visit the Nintendo website ( Nintendo Australia from memory) they usually have a complete list of games for you to look at.
favourite game for the kids... get Rayman Raving Rabbids, its awesome and i'm 20 plenty of 4 player games out there haven't noticed any battery life going down, but i've only played mine for about 15 hours stupid attachments, don't go near them, the only semi-decent one is the steering wheel
we've got wiiplay wiisports, carnival, cars mario party and a couple of others that i can't think of at the moment (because i haven't played them all) my favourite would have to still be wiisports definitely better to get the 4 remotes we got the ones that came free with games.
