Haven't done a thread on any of my other Miscellaneous rides i have brought over the years so here is my latest pickup.
I'm defiantly not new to polishing a turd but i thought i would upload this one as my latest wagon build is now come to a halt.
If anyone's interested ill give you the story so far of "Basha". The name come from the state of the poor thing. Shes only made for one thing. Bashing. Mostly bush bashing.

So here i am with a few mates on the beach with my Mates GQ Patrol having a blast of a day. Standard day of Sh*t talk and who can climb this and that. Every time it gets me i feel like having another "Truck".
Some might remember me mentioning in one of my Threads i had a Lifted, big tyre combo Black Colorado. The car was brilliant but being a new black car i was always worried to scratch it ect.

Sure enough that night a screenshot was sent to me of patrol needing work down in Sydney cheap. Engine not running, Believes no spark.
Organized a trailer and a lift down to Sydney with a mate. Car wasn't as described. How unusual right? missing floor, More damage then described but after all its a old second hand 4x4.
Ended up getting the young bloke down to a very decent price and loaded her up on the trailer.
On our way home we kept getting stuck in road works after road works. Not a good thing to be getting stuck in on the free way with large uphill climbs and a TD42 -T towing. Known as a kettle. lol
all going well...... then we over heated And did Tyre on the trailer while pulling off to the side of the road.... after this we believe the engine done the head gasket and left us about 15mins from home stuck on the road of the road with two broken Patrols. Thankfully i had the misses come save us at 3am with my SSV wagon to tow both the broken hunks home. God love her.

Here she is....

Make: Nissan Patrol GQ.
Year: 1988.
Engine: TB42 - 4.2L Petrol
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual.
Lift: 4" Coil springs, Adjustable arms, Extended shocks, Extended brake lines
Wheels: 35" Muddies. Size ill have to look.

Need GoPro action shots ASAP lol. I had a Colorado before my old SSV, it was a weapon off road. Great fun on the sand at Stockton as well.

Lots of LS conversions into Patrols and Land Cruisers happening lately.... just sayin.....

Ahaha i had looked into that if the motor dint go. the sad thing is the motor would be worth more then the whole car i have ahah.

Yes.. Yes i did unfortunately, Very common on GQ's to rust the floor out along with other area's.

Some of you might follow me on other types of social media so these photos can be a few weeks old till i catch up with uploading. I'm having alot of issues with photobucket going very slow that i end up throwing the towel in due to 5mins plus to load one photo. with over 100 photo's ready to go this is just to painful.

So why is it when i buy a new car its bloody raining ?! So the car was brought under the agreement that it didn't run. Apparently no spark.
First inspection when i got her home was the dizzy cap, Rotor button, Coil and leads had been replaced very recently, So recent they had no mud or anything on them. The battery was so dead she wouldn't even attempt to turn. Straight on the triple charger.
After some mucking around one night with a flash light after work i confirmed no spark. Stated taking the dizzy apart when i noticed a crack through the dizzy plate that had been glued. Odd? took the Rotor button off and the plate to find the power wire for the points has melted and burn off. Bingo!

Continuing, So the next night slapped a new connector on the wire and put it all back together. I tried to clean the burn bodge up a little so i could slap it together to see if the car even worked before i went out and brought new parts.

Threw everything back together and sure enough she fired for the first time! Rough but running ahah. Threw the hood down an took her for the first lap around the block.
Not knowing the history i really wanted to know if the diff, gear, engine actually worked before replacing anything.
Every thing worked. Hi, Low all gears. Except...... once you got over about 40km's a massive clunk would develop. i had this very bad feeling the diff was gone until i found a metal chunk sitting under the tail shaft.
Uni joint was completely flogged out.

So after i found out it was the uni joint i stated the search to get one that day, Supercheap out, Auto barn ect. Everyone wanted gold for the the complete tailshaft. Ended up finding a wrecker with brand new one for $40 on Gumtree, They are about $56 new. Not bad.
Now i knew the car was at least worked it was time to clean her up. first thing Carby clean, Plugs, fresh oil, Followed by some light cleaning.
I plan on making a "dry box" for all the fuses and replays but i just wanted to find out whats broken, fix it and remove all the un-needed stuff. Eventally whole doing the dry box i will relocate most wires and stuff in the road so its very easy to resolve something later on.

Now this truck will always be a pig. but i always believe if you take care of something it will take care of you besides the fact i take pride in all my projects. Shes a solid old beast so i plan on trying to put some effort into her to bring her back to life.
I planned on wielding in the missing floor that had been cut out for rust but after speaking with a few blokes in the scene all came to the same conclusion to clue and pop rivet.
I tossed up my options. Found a doner car that the wrecker didn't care if i cut parts out off. So came my angle grinder and out came the floor. While i was there i grabbed some drivers door hinges with ok bushes as mine had completely been flogged out. Also scored a accelerator pedal rubber and a few little things i needed.

One thing i have had consistent is everyone i have spoken to say how solid of a 4x4 it is. All have loved it so far. Every time i'm working on it out the font or in the drive way the neighborhood always stops for a chat. I had the car pink slipped on friday and rego thrown on it that day too and took her for her first drive. Didn't miss a beat!
I have taken basha off road twice and have taken on some of the biggest mud holes on hills i simple through it would never get up. Unbelievably impressed. Secretly loving this every second of Basha so far. Hopefully MUCH more to come

What a weapon! Love the buildup of dirt under the front guards lol

Make sure the light bar is mounted properly, they're getting stolen all over the place. My mates have spot welded the bolts
