Hi, Just reason my owners manual for my WL statesman. Noticed when ESP kicks in if I lose grip etc, it's supposed to come up on the dash, until I press 'Mode'. Its definitely functioning, can tell on pretty much any corner in the rain if I drive a little 'spirited'. Problem is, it's never come up on my dash as 'ESP Assistance' when it's kicked in. It's definitely on though. Why won't it show up? Also, while on topic, I've got another issue. For about a week I drove around with no licence plate lights, and I never got a bulb out warning. I also have LEDs in now. No bulb out warning. I also had LED parkers. No bulb out warning. This normal?
Never known a Holden to give a 'bulb out warning'. The onus is on the owner/driver to regularly check all lights along with tyres, tyre pressures, wipers, indicators and believe it or not but anything other than a clean windscreen can result in charge of driving without due care etc.
Most up-scale badged commodores and statesman/caprice have given bulb warnings as far back as the VN/VP/VQ...
I was under the impression that esp only came out on the VE, though traction control was as fancy as the WL got
Bulb out warnings and loss of traction lights? Back in my day we checked the bulbs by looking at them and detected traction loss when we were facing a different way to where we were steering
Yes well it's 2012 and the car comes with these features and I'd like them to function. VZ Berlina, Calais, and I think optional on Acclaim, and WL (only V6 alloytecs) came with ESP. It was because of the new engines being able to have more control via the BCM or something so all the gen III 5.7s only got traction control, no ESP. Anyway, I found the issue. The manual lies. It does say 'ESP assistance', however, disappears off the screen itself the moment the car regains control, not when you press 'mode' as the manual says. As my steering wheel is usually upside down when this happens, I don't see it on the dash lol. Checked yesterday while the car was going sideways and it definitely appeared.
