I'm willing to be the fluid level is way below full.

Oil level is checked with the car on and after shifting through all the gears.

Check the fluid with the car idling in park.

As the guys have said. when you refill the trans it's only filling the pan. you've gotta start it and cycle through the gears so the oil can level out.

then recheck the dipstick and top it up if needed

Also make sure you are on level ground when checking levels

was it just oil change or did you do filter
if just oil fill to cold level start engine change into gear and back to park, turn off top up to full cold and repeat
if filter as well make sure you fitted seal, (if you took old one out)
edit- assuming you know to do final check with engine running and trans hot
